Tomorrow, I go back to the Doc's and hopefully these rubber bands come off for good. We'll see. For now I'll continue eating mac&cheese, mashed potatoes, rice, and soup. Along with ice cream, graham crackers, chocolate morsels, and protein shakes/smoothies. Oh, and I'll keep icing my face until all the swelling is gone, I sure hope it goes away soon.. it's getting annoying; and the numbness, agh. Is it too much to ask just to be able to feel my chin again, or parts of my lips/cheeks? The Doc's say that it could be months before all the numbness goes away... it's going to be a long couple of months. I just have to remember that in the end, after I'm 100% healed, it will all be worth it. No more braces, no more crooked mouth, an even bite, and a normal smile. Plus, I know God wouldn't give me a challenge that I couldn't handle.
OH, and we found out yesterday that the total cost of my surgery (hospital bills included), comes to a whopping $95,000... $95,000! If you add on the $5,000 for braces, my mouth comes to $100,000. WOW. Good thing we have insurance.
Also, I have titanium plates in my mouth and heard this song the other day...
Normally, I'm not fond of David Guetta because I feel like all he does is stand there and press a few buttons and he gets all this attention/fame. I don't know, anyways, this song is called "Titanium". What I'm worried about though is airport security. My family is going to Las Vegas this summer and I really hope my metal doesn't set off the metal detectors. If it does it's going to create a scene, I'll have to be checked and scanned, it will just be weird/awkward. But, my surgeon said I don't have to worry about it and that I won't set it off... ya, we'll see about that. I don't have a good feeling about it.
Happy Thursday!
life is good
Holy Moly Guacamole!
ReplyDeleteIt is so interesting that all of the complaints that you have are things that I struggle with as well. My Doc told me to expect the numbness to go away in 3-6 months so we may have a bit of a road ahead of us! Glad to hear that you are doing well.. TWO weeks!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI bet the no-chew diet is the hardest for most people, and I cant imagine anyone enjoying the numbness hahah but we'll get through this slowly but surely!
