Happy Friday!! Today I go for my 7 week post-op appointment. Yepp, it's been 7 weeks already! Looking back now the time really flew by, although at the time it didn't feel like it. I'm just grateful to have healed so nicely, and back to eating foods! yahoo!! :)
Anyways, I'm linking up for my very first Friday's Letters.
Dear Sun, I'm enjoying the warmth but can you cool it down some already?! I don't need this 100 degree weather.. a breezy 74 will work for me. Thanks.
Dear Jaw, Thank you for healing nicely, and for finally being straight and in place. Let's keep the healing process going strong!
Dear Creator of Magic Mike, Thank you. ;)
Dear Cleveland Indians, Congrats on the win last night boys. Let's keep this going, and get back into 1st place in the AL Central. Go Tribe!
Dear Cleveland Browns, Can this be our year... please? And by "can this be our year" I mean can we just have a winning season, .500, something. anything. please? Here we go Brownies, here we go! woof woof!
Dear Friends, Erin- Thanks for encouraging me.. oh and thanks for that ice cream -yumm! ;; Malone- Thanks for being the best friend ever, and always being there for me. ;; Melissa- Thanks for always making me crack-up and being the best sister in the world. ;; Mo- Thanks for listening to everything I've ever told you and giving me advice. Even if you try to make my life awkward, I still appreciate everything you do for me. ;; Ashley- Come back to OHIO! Seriously. But congrats on being a McCallister now.
Dear Cleveland Clinic, Why must you be soo far away from my house? I'm getting tired of driving and hour for a 15minute appointment.
Dear Country Music, Thanks for always relating to my life. It makes everything easier... the sad times, the happy times, the amazing times.
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

Making Progress 101
I started a 101 in 1001 list about two-ish months ago. If you haven't made yourself a 101 list yet I HIGHLY recommend doing so. Just go to Day Zero and get started -you will not regret it! It's fun, and motivational, and awesome! Anyways, one of my 101 goals is to blog about each goal I complete so here's my update:
The Change-Up, knocks off letter C. It was good, but just like all the other "They want the other ones life and switch bodies and realize they want their own life back" movies. And there was a lot of swearing... and I mean, a lot. My rating: C+.
The Descendents, letter D. I actually quite enjoyed the Descendents. I thought it was funny, and sad, and a solid story. I didn't really have high expectations but I have to say it was better than I thought. My rating: A-.
Maid in Manhattan -M. Okay, so I'm a little behind watching this movie. But, every time it was on TV it had already begun. And I cannot watch a movie without seeing the entire thing -unless I've seen it before. Anyways, I thought it was a decent movie, and I enjoyed the story behind it. Low class maid and a high end politician guy falling in love... I like 'underdog' stories, I like when people achieve their goals. My rating: B.
A Walk to Remember, W. Alright so I was behind on this movie train too. I know all you girls are thinking the same thing "you're a girl and you finally just saw this movie? What's wrong with you?!" Yea, well. I'm thinking the same thing. I read the book and loved it, so I had to see the movie. Usually I watch the movie then read the book -backwards I know- but books are pretty much always better, so why end on a bad note by watching the movie afterwards? See there is some logic there. Anyways, the book was wayyy better. The book was amazing actually. The movie, eh. I had high expectations.. now, I'm not saying it was bad, I'm just simply saying the book was better. My rating: B.
You Again, knocking off letter Y. I enjoyed You Again more than I expected too, maybe it's cause I think Jamie Lee Curtis is a great actress. Or because two of the main guys were attractive. Either way it was good none-the-less. My rating: B-.
#7: Watch a movie I haven't seen yet for all 26 letters of the alphabet

#68 Read an (auto)biography of someone I admire.
I read Diary Of A Player by Brad Paisley. Brad is my favorite musician, and I have a lot of respect for him. After reading this book my admiration just grew stronger. He truly is a great man, father, husband, singer, and guitarist. "Try as you may, life will unfold around you at its own pace" -Brad.

Very Pinteresting
It's Wednesday!! Which means another pinteresting blog post... oh, and this weekend (t-minus 4 days) is the wedding shower myself and my mom are planning for Melissa! I'm getting more and more excited. I cannot believe how fast time is flying by. Pretty soon I won't have to say almost sister-in-law, and I'll actually have a sister.. even if it's just by law I'll take it. Growing up with two brothers (and being in the middle) is tough work. I need some girl talk every now and then, and I'm sure my friends are tired of hearing my same ramblings over and over. Anyways, here's what I've been pinning.. again, it's mostly quotes. Okay, they're all quotes.. apparently I like pinning motivational/funny quotes.
ONE::
For real though. Just give me a bonfire, a cold drink, and I'm in Heaven.
TWO::
I love this.. mainly because I always say, "tomorrow."
THREE::
Irish Proverb. True statement.
FOUR::
I thought this was funny... and true.
FIVE::
I love my friends. I always have a great time with them, no matter what.
SIX::
too funny!
SEVEN::
I love this, and I actually love feeling sore.. is that weird?
EIGHT::
"and bottles of really cold beer" -yepp.
HAPPY WEDNEDSAY!!

TopTuesday
I'm linking up with Just Peachy for my very first Top 5 Tuesday!
This week just so happens to be Top 5: Celebrity Crushes. oohhh yeeaaa! :)
Zac Efron. There's just something about him, and his performance in Charlie St. Cloud. I haven't seen The Lucky One yet, but I'm sure it'll be great.
Ryan Reynolds. I mean, he was voted sexiest man alive at one point.
Cam Gigandet. Just look at him, and watch the movie Never Back Down -even though he's a bully in the movie you'll still love him.
I kinda thought this would be easy.. but it was harder than I thought. There's just so many attractive dudes. Not listed but could be listed:: Justin Theroux, James Franco, Jake Gyllenhaal, Brad Paisley, Jack Hannahan, Dane Sanzenbacher, Enrique Iglesias, and Colin Farrell. Just off the top of my head.

50 Q's that will Free Your Mind, 4.
Another series of the 50 Questions that will Free your Mind.. only one more to go after this!
31. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?
Hmm.. I guess when I was coaching volleyball. It has been one of my dreams to coach a sport, especially volleyball, and to have that experience at the young age of 21 was unbelievable. I cannot wait for this next season! Topper Power!
32. If not now, then when?
When the time is right.
33. If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose?
I suppose that depends one what you want to achieve.
34. Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever?
Yes. You know you're best friends with someone when you don't even have to talk to have a conversation. But, I've also walked away thinking "what the hell, that was awkward" if it's with someone I'm not super close with.
35. Why do religions that support love cause so many wars?
Because everyone has different views. Some religions might not have consequences for inappropriate actions. Everyone has a desire to have their way of thinking/believing to be the 'right' way.
36. Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil?
To a certain extent, yes. For the most part people know whats right and wrong.. or good and evil. It's just up to them to determine how they want to react.
37. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?
No. I'd definitely take time off, go on vacation and what not, but I'd still work. I mean a million dollars can only take you so far.. but if you're still earning money on top of that then you can really have fun // help people.
38. Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing?
Umm, right now more work I actually like doing. But, ask me when I'm super busy juggling school, work, and coaching, and I'll say less work.
39. Do you feel like you’ve lived this day a hundred times before?
No sir.
40. When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in?
I guess I'd say coaching for the first time. I felt like I was in the dark, even if I have years and years of experience playing volleyball. But in the end it was worth it. Best decision I ever made. Absolutely loved every second of being a coach.

Weekend Update - Lane Golf Outing
Another great weekend! Hope everyone else had an awesome weekend, too!
Thursday::
Yes, my weekend festivities began on Thursday. There's a little bar about 2-3 miles from my house and Thursdays they have a cornhole league/tournament thing that my little brother, Brian and a few of his buddies participate in. So I went up with the guys and two of my best friends -Malone and Olivia -whom I grew up with. It was a great time! We played volleyball and listened to country music, and enjoyed a few cold ones (Lynchburg Lemonade), and even sang karaoke -Don't Take The Girl by Tim McGraw- the whole night was fun. Then again, I always have an awesome time when I'm with the Hawthorne crew. I forgot to take pictures...
Friday::
I took it easy, and recovered from the night at Hambden Inn. I went over to my cousin Mo's house, and played with my little cousins -her kids, Tallon and Corbin- they're fun kids but typical energetic boys who just want to beat each other up. Mo and I chatted and got caught up in eachother's lives. The rest of the evening/night I watched TV -and since it's a Friday night you know I was watching Ghost Adventures, that show is so fake to me it's hilarious (sorry if you actually like the show.)
Saturday::
The ?? annual Lane Family Golf Outing. I'm not sure what number annually this is, since it started even before I was born -so it's at least 22, but more like 40ish I think. And guess what?! I actually took pictures! yahoo! The Lane Family Golf Outing is basically my dad's entire extended family -or at least those who golf- get together for one big outing. We do a scramble version so everyone breaks into teams of 4. This year I was with my almost sister-in-law, second cousin Corrine, and her boyfriend Scott. Wedid really good sucked. None of us ever play golf except at this outing. I've played golf three times in my life, in the past three years, at this very golf outing.. but we still had fun driving the golf carts around, making fun of how bad we are, and drinking. Enough of my rambling, here's the pictures:
And, finally.. the many pictures of Melissa -she may kill me for sharing these, but they were too funny not to!
Sunday::
Caught up on sleep, and relaxed the whole day. That's all.
BUT I'd also like to mention that on Thursday I hit my 6 week post-op mark! Which means..... FOOD! Or at least more food choices. It's becoming easier and easier to chew, to open my mouth, to sleep, to talk, to brush my teeth, to live life like a normal human. The swelling is 99% GONE, and the numbness is decreasing faster than I thought it would. AND the most exciting thing about six weeks... is..... ready??? I FINALLY GOT TO EAT CHICKEN NUGGETS AGAIN! Okay, okay, so it doesn't seem like a big deal, but to a girl who loooves not only chicken nuggets, but any and all kinds of meat, it's a huuuge deal. No more being vegetarian here! yaayayaayayaya!! :)
Oh, and I just made a 90s station on Pandora.. so I'm really loving life right now! Remember O-Town "All or Nothing?" Yea. That just played. And S Club 7 -not only did I listen to their music but I even watched their TV show. I'm a 90s baby and I'm PROUD!

Awards Night
So I was nominated for my first ever blogging award, thanks to Stephanie over at Bourbon and Glitter.. thanks Stephanie!! :)
the rules for this award are as follows:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
2. Include a link to their site.
3. Include the award image in your post.
4. Give 7 random facts about yourself.
5. Nominate 15 other bloggers for the award.
6. When nominating, include a link to their site.
7. Let other bloggers know they've been nominated.
Here are my seven random facts::
ONE.
I looove sports. I love watching sports, I love playing sports. I just love sports. Volleyball, football, and baseball are my favorites. But I'll watch basketball, MMA/UFC, hockey, it doesn't matter. The only sports I don't really like at all is golf and soccer. Golf, I'll play once in a while but watching it? No thank you, I'd rather watch paint dry -seriously. And soccer, well it just doesn't grab my attention. I've never been a soccer fan.
TWO.
I've had braces for EIGHT years now. And that is not a typo. I'll still have them for another 6ish months. So we're looking at a minimum of 8 1/2 years. On top of that I've had- a surgery to bring impacted teeth down, teeth pulled, a minor facial bone chipped away, an expander, screws in my gums, and then the infamous jaw surgery (I may have forgotten a few things too.. it's hard to keep track of these days.) BUT, unless you really talk to me about it, and even then it's minimal, I will not complain about the pain I've felt, or the fact that it's been eight years. Do I hate it? Yes. Will I complain? Hell no.
THREE.
I have to plan out everything I do. I like to know when, where, and with whom. I like to keep a planner, and stay organized with my time. It's kind of like OCD. Which I don't think I actually have, but like I do certain things that make me wonder sometimes -like stir an alcoholic beverage constantly.
FOUR.
I coached middle school volleyball for the first time last season, and it was the best experience of my life. I loved every second of it. I had the greatest group of 8th grade girls, and the best help from the 7th grade coach -being my first year coaching I was nervous. The Chardon Hilltoppers 8th grade team went UNDEFEATED 16-0. I couldn't have been more proud. The amount of hard work they put in everyday at practice really payed off. Never Quit. One Heartbeat.
FIVE.
I actually really love thinking about random facts about myself//hearing what others random facts are. I think you can tell a lot from people with what they choose to mention in a short list. That being said, I love listening/watching/analyzing why people act the way they do. I think that's why I love horror movies, and mysteries, and wanted to be an F.B.I. agent for a while back in high school... and maybe part of me still does want to be one.
SIX.
My favorite smell/scent? Peanut Butter. It beats out fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies, and guys cologne, and just everything. When I smell peanut butter I stop for a second every time to really take sniff or two. But, I don't really eat peanut butter that much. Basically only if I'm sick -peanut butter toast is the only thing I've ever been able to stomach when I have the flu. Or I'll add it in to a protein shake, but that's it really.
SEVEN.
Going off of number 6, I never get sick. I get a stuffy nose once in a blue moon. And have flu like symptoms maybe once a year -if that, and it only lasts a day or two. I've been to my adult doctor one time, other than that the last time I went to a doctor I saw my pediatrician. I actually got a letter last summer saying I can't go there anymore and I have to move on to a regular doctor. Who gets kicked out of their pediatrician?! Me. My immune system is just a solid rock I guess.
The 15 bloggers I'll nominate are the 13 bloggers that follow me. So just go check out my followers, and their blogs -they're really awesome people! :)

50 Q's that will Free Your Mind, 3.
The Kent State Golden Flashes beat number one seeded Florida last night in the elimination game!! yahooooo!!! Next up is South Carolina.. GO FLASHES!!
Here's my next set of 50 Questions that will Free Your Mind... Happy Tuesday!! :)
21. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?
A joyful simpleton, for sure. People need to stop worrying all the time and just enjoy life.
22. Why are you, you?
Because this is who God wanted me to be. He's our creator, so ultimately it's up to Him. But if you're not into religion, then I'd say it's because of my parents, grandma, friends, and the life experiences that I have had that make me who I am today.
23. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?
I like to think so. I hope so. My friends haven't said otherwise. But, I'm sure as of lately I haven't been the greatest, since there's not a whole lot I can do.. recovering from jaw surgery and all.
24.Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?
When a good friend moves away. I just experienced this. My best friend Ashley moved from Ohio to Hawaii, so she's not exactly next door. Besides, if you're losing touch with a friend then your friendship isn't as solid as you thought, but if a friend just ups and moves, well, that's something you can't control.. trust me, I know.
25. What are you most grateful for?
My family, my friends, and the grace of God. Along with our service men and women, past, present, and future.
26. Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
I love my old memories, every single one of them. I've had some really great experiences, but to not be able to make new memories, that would just be horrible. You'd be living everyday like it was Groundhog's Day (side note: I actually haven't seen that movie.) It'd be boring to live without remembering was you did yesterday. So I'd have to forget my old memories.
27. Is is possible to know the truth without challenging it first?
I don't think so.. the amount of people who lie or stretch the truth these days is ridic! I think it's in everyone's natural ability to question whats real and whats fake.
28. Has your greatest fear ever come true?
Nope.
29. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now?
Let's see that would have been 2007, which means I'd be a senior in high school. I don't think I was ever extremely upset in high school.. let alone senior year. I loved/love my school.
30. What is your happiest childhood memory? What makes it so special?
I've had really great memories.. but I guess what I miss the most is.. Summer Rec. A summer camp the whole old neighborhood gang would go to. Everyday just playing with friends, making crafts, and spending our days running around. I loved those days. I love my Hawthorne Woods friends.
life is good.

Weekend Update - Brad Paisley
My weekend was.... AMAZING!! Filled with country music, family, friends, good food, cold drinks, and the warmth of a bonfire. Here's how it went::
FRIDAY::
Attended my 4th Brad Paisley concert at Blossom Music Center with my Gram! It started with an amazing lunch at Luigi's in Akron, OH. I got the spaghetti with garlic and oil (remember, I don't like marinara sauce) and it was delish! My Gram built her own veggie pizza, which she loved. I enjoyed a Seagram's while my Gram had a small glass of wine. Our waitress was great -so nice and friendly, and provided wonderful service. We're definitely going back! And that helps me with #13 on my 101- Eat at 10 new restaurants!
Then we made our way to the concert, which was phenomenal. We cooled down with a Mike's Hard Lemonade before heading inside..
Before the actual concert new comers Jana Kramer and Love&Theft performed. Both were very good!! First up was Scotty McCreery. And I have to say, he did a lot better than I expected. I really enjoyed his performance. Next was The Band Perry, whom I saw last year too. I thought they did a lot better this year than last year. It, again, was really well done. Then came Mr. Brad Paisley -my favorite singer. He did sooo good! And such a good, genuine guy he is too. He even brought Colt McCoy on stage to help him finish singing "I'm Still A Guy," did I mention Mr. Paisley's favorite NFL team is the Cleveland Browns? Ohhh yeaaa!! Go Brownies!! This finishes #23 on my 101: Go to a concert -check! Along with #62: See a country artist I haven't seen yet (Scotty McCreery, Love & Theft, Jana Kramer) -check!
SATURDAY::
We went over to Randy and Melissa's house for a cookout, and my dad/Brian helped Randy cut down a few dead/over-grown trees. It really opened up the front of their house -now it looks even better! Melissa was even considerate enough to ask what I'd like to "eat" at their house, she made baked beans and bought pasta salad -just so I could eat with them! Ain't she a doll?! It was all soo delish!
Then with all the wood and branches from the trees we had a bonfire at my house. Great friends, cold drinks, and a warm fire to me makes for the perfect night. Just what I needed!
SUNDAY::
Father's Day I just recovered from the bonfire. My brother's and I got my dad a gift card to Gander Mtn. so he can pick out a brand-new smoker! He's been needing a new one, but he's so picky that we figured it'd be best for him to choose his own. He loved it!

I'm just going to jump right into my High Fives because I'm just so excited about my life right now.
ONE::
I'm going to my 4th Brad Paisley concert today!! Yes, I've seen him three other times already -he's my favorite! I'm also taking my Grandma, it will be her first time at Blossom Music Center (which if you live in the area, you must go to a concert there in your lifetime.) So I'm taking her with me!
me, Carrie, Erin -last year at Brad Paisley (H20 II Tour) |
TWO::
THREE more months until I'll have a SISTER. No, not an actual blood sister, but a sister-in-law! I'm so excited for my older brother Randy and his fiance Melissa. I love planning things, so helping to plan a wedding shower is right up my alley -I've never done it before, but so far I'm loving it. And have some greatttt ideas.. I'd share them with y'all but then Melissa will see!
Melissa and I in Las Vegas, last summer. One of my fav pictures ever. |
THREE::
I got to see the Klein family last night! This is my friend Allison's family. They're such a nice family; funny, considerate, loud, they remind me of my best friend's family whom I grew up with. So I always feel like I've known them forever.
FOUR::
I'm only ONE WEEK away from being able to eat more food! And, my rubber bands are off, and I'm five weeks post-op already, and I can feel my lips again, and the swelling is almost all gone!!
FIVE::
46 days until Las Vegas 2012!! I'm sooo pumped. "not a worry in the world, a cold drink in my hand, life is good today" -Zac Brown Band... that sums up Vegas.
HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!

Thankful Thursday!
Today marks FIVE WEEKS since jaw surgery! I cannot believe it. It feels like only a week or so has gone by. But, whats even better than being five weeks in? Being only ONE WEEK away from real food!!! I mean I can kinda chew softly right now, and have already started to try and get used to it, but to really be able to start chewing with doctors orders, that I cant wait for. I'm happy to say I've been completely off my medication for over a week now, and the swelling has reduced significantly. The numbness is still full on in the chin area but I've gotten used to it now, and my lips are almost completely numb free, yaayayayay! Everything is progressing smoothly. Once all the swelling goes away I'll post before and after photos, everyone keeps saying I look really different, but my family and I don't see much of a change. I'll also share some of the hospital pictures then, although they might freak some of you out.. to be frank, I look like hell in those pictures.
Anyways, Happy Thursday! This is a "It's Okay Thursday" and "Thankful Thursday" mash-up. A two-in-one. Buy one get one.
I'm thankful...
...for my friends and family -they give me so much love and support.
...that I'm able to go to the Brad Paisley concert tomorrow.
...that I'm recovering well, and had no problems post-op.
...that the OKC Thunder won game 1 of the NBA Finals.
...for the life God gave me -life is good.
...that I had the opportunity to ride a hot air balloon.
...for blogging and the friendly people I've "met" so far.

It's OKAY that...
...I started chewing soft foods before my Doc gave me the go-ahead.
...while grocery shopping my mom kept asking me what I thought she should make for dinner -like I could actually eat it.
...I saw an ex-friend the other day and he was extremely rude/disrespectful.
...I haven't told anyone I personally know about my blog -besides my older brother, and Melissa.
...I miss my best friend -she moved from Ohio to Hawaii.
...I've only been to one Tribe game this year so far -time to go to another one.
...I can/will never be a vegetarian, ever -this no-chew diet proves that.
