Christmas Survey

I saw this on Heather's blog, thought it was quite festive, and seeing as it's Christmas Eve...

eggnog or hot chocolate?
I like both.

does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
wraps, and labels "from: Santa." the handwriting is very similar to my moms.

colored lights on tree/house or white?
colored. for sure. we do Red, White, and Blue on my house. MERICA!

do you hang mistletoe?
nope. I think one year we put one up though.

when do you hang your decorations?
typically the weekend following Thanksgiving. and get our tree either that weekend or the next, depending on how busy we are. (this year my parents decided to get a fake tree without preparing me for it, and I'm pissed about it. I hate fake trees, I think they're stupid.)

favorite holiday dish?
Christmas breakfast. my momma makes a huge breakfast after we're done with presents and what not. eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, hashbrowns, the whole shebang. I love it.

favorite holiday memory as a child?
going to my papa's on Christmas Eve and my gram's on Christmas. my cousins, brothers, and I would spend Christmas Eve searching for Santa on one of those websites, and playing games we made up.

what is on your Christmas wish list?
headphones, a new Browns shirt and Tribe shirt, Are You There Vodka It's Me Chelsea, new hair straightener. and then stubhub giftcard, livenation giftcard, kohls/jcpenney giftcard.

do you open gifts on Christmas Eve?
nope. well, kinda I guess.. we go to my cousin's and exchange gifts with them.

snow, love it or dread it?
love it on Christmas and Christmas Eve.. otherwise, it's just eh.

real tree or fake tree?
REAL. no question about it.

do you remember your favorite gift?
I've gotten so many fantastic gifts, I don't know what would be my fav.

whats the most important thing about Christmas for you?
spending time with the fam.

whats your favorite holiday desert?
idk, Christmas cookies...?

whats your favorite holiday tradition?
going to my cousins on Christmas Eve and my grams on Christmas day.

do you prefer giving or receiving?
receiving. lets be honest. I like both actually.. I enjoy the look on their face when they open your gift and see something they wanted or something they like but didn't expect.

whats your favorite Christmas song?
thats a tough one. I love all Christmas music, I guess I'd say...

A Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives on Grooveshark

candy canes, yuck or yum?
yum!!

favorite Christmas movie?
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (which also happens to be Luke Bryan's fav too) but I also really love Elf. and Home Alone. and Rudolph. and Prep & Landing.. which isn't technically a movie, but whatever.

what do you leave for Santa?
we used to leave cookies and milk, with a few carrots for the reindeer.

do you prefer to shop online or at the mall?
online I think. this year I basically ordered everything.. but I do love Black Friday shopping.

Christmas letter or card?
we used to send cards out, now we don't send anything. but I like getting cards sent to us.

hope everyone has a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!! :)

buy me a drink

tomorrow is my birthday (and birthday shout-out to Josh! his birthday was yesterday.) but with it being Thanksgiving and all I'll be extremely busy. football in the morning, stuffing my face with family all afternoon, then black friday shopping with Mo the whole night. I'm so looking forward to it all (and no that isn't sarcastic, I really am looking forward to it).

tomorrow I turn 24. 24! what the hell, when did I become an "adult" and how do I make it stop? 24 just seems old, like I should have my shit together. except um, yea, I don't.

but since it falls on Thanksgiving this year, I figured I'd give y'all 24 things I'm thankful for...

1:: my family. I have the best parents, brothers, sister-in-law, dog niece, grandma, uncles, aunts, and cousins ever. they're all so great (well, except maybe one or two.. but for the most part.)

2:: my friends. they're all always there for me, no matter what time of day or night.

3:: my job. it may just be a part-time coffee shop gig, and I might have to deal with annoying customers occasionally, but at least I have a job. and at least I get to work with some pretty slick people.

4:: our armed forces. because of you guys, past present and future, I can sleep soundly in my bed at night. we all have the freedom to enjoy a Thanksgiving day meal, or go to an Indian restaurant, or do whatever the hell we feel like doing.

5:: snail mail. so I can keep in contact with Josh, somewhat, while he's at boot camp.

6:: social media//texting. because it's a lot easier to keep in contact with friends and family this way than it is sending a letter and hoping for a response.

7:: my blog. (which is really just another thank you to Melissa, since she's the one who put the idea in my head). it's allowed me to meet so many awesome people, and broaden my horizons outside of the little bubble of a town I grew up in, and still call home.

8:: food. without it, I'd die.

9:: my small-ness. I may not be able to reach things way up high without a stool but I can fit my hand inside a pringles container.. so hah!

10:: television//movies. for keeping me entertained on cold, snowy, rainy days.

11:: my house. it may not be a giant mansion, but at least I'm fortunate enough to have a sturdy roof over my head every night.

12:: e-cards. they express my opinions in hilarious ways.

13:: vodka. it helps me cope with the hard times and celebrate the good.

14:: music. country in particular, for keeping me sane. especially on those busy days at work.

15:: my strong immune system. I don't get sick very often, thanks to it.

16:: God. I know I'm far from perfect, but I'm grateful that you forgive me for the sins I make daily.

17:: good spirits. everyone should just be happy all the time, or at least nice.. I love nice people.

18:: tips. the little extra cash allows me to give back. give to charities or take an ornament off a giving tree around the holidays.

19:: gifs. they're just funny.. especially New Girl gifs.

20:: freedom. I think it speaks for itself.

21:: parody videos. they're just damn funny. like the one James Franco and Seth Rogen made for Kanye's stupid video, hilarious.

22:: sports. they've taught me determination, discipline, motivation, teamwork, etc.

23:: my friends and family. they get two because they're that wonderful.

24:: celebrations. such as my birthday celebration, happening this Saturday.

I hope everyone has a very wonderful Thanksgiving! I know mine will be great! :)

that really happened... (2)

sometimes you just gotta laugh at the weird scenarios you encounter. (read part one)

:: during Vegas 2012 my mom and I witnessed a guy go into a fountain and grab as many coins as he could then run off. it was bizarre. but I feel bad for the people's wishes that he stole from taking their coins. and I wonder how much money he actually got in the end.
:: there's this guy who goes to every Cleveland Indians home game with a giant drum. he sits in the bleachers and gets the crowd roaring when we need a little pick-me-up. one time he let me bang the drum and then my friends and I took a picture with him. I'm sure he lets a bunch of people bang the drum cause he's super nice, but I like to act like it was a privilege given only to me.

:: at a Monsters hockey game once, while the teams were warming up, I went down to the glass and tried becoming friends with a few of the players. well, one player, Matt Tassone (who actually doesn't play for them anymore.. boo.) gave me a puck! and we got on the jumbotron six times. #score

:: on a family vacation, we went to Mammoth Caves in Kentucky. the five of us were the first people who showed up for the tour. while walking through the caves these two people, who were very intense- equipped with head lights and everything, kept trying to get in front of us. my family being the natural competitors that we are saw this as a competition. we made sure that they did not get in front of us, creating body walls and strategically standing certain ways and in certain areas. it was one of the funniest times ever.
:: at work I once cut my finger while opening a mayonnaise container. has that ever happened to anyone else? who the heck cuts themselves on the seal of a container?
:: I was born on November 28, at 8:08am. my cousin's wife had a baby girl whom was also born on November 28, at 8:08am 23yrs later. I kid you not. how does that happen?

what weird experiences have you had??
