Vayy-Kayy.

First off, I want to say that I had an AMAZING weekend. Filled with the 1st Annual Lane-Rice Beer Olympics, and the Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw concert. I will definitely fill you all in on those next week.

Which brings me to my next topic, vacation. For the next week I'll be on vacation in, none other than, Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm leaving tomorrow morning, and will get home late Sunday night. I won't be posting anything until I'm back home, because I'll be living the life down in Vegas.. winning some big bucks! Hopefully.

I will of course tell all about my time in Vega$ too. Look for those next week.

Anyways, thats all for now. I have to finish start packing.

BYE!

Thursday Thirteen

Today I'm linking up with All Things Lovely for my first ever Thursday Thirteen!

I know I could pull off an It's Okay Thursday, because well there are a few things that could be better.. but it's okay -like the fact that I completely spilled the mop bucket at work last night. Oops!

And, I could also do a Thankful Thursday, because there are a few things.. well a lot of things.. to be thankful for -like the fact that it didn't rain on Monday and the Indians won. Or the fact that my boss wasn't mad that I spilled the mop water everywhere and she helped me clean it up.

But, instead I'm doing a Thursday Thirteen, all about my hometown -which I love.

Chardon, Ohio

1. Chardon is the heart of the snow belt here in Ohio. We get more snow in my little town than any other city in Ohio, and rank pretty high within the United States.
2. Chardon is a small town. Filled with pizza places, gas stations, and banks. As of recently, we finally expanded and got a Walmart. Crazy, I know!
3. There is next to nothing to do in my small town, so if you want to see a movie, have more than 3 options of a restaurant, or shop at a decent store, we drive to Mentor, Ohio. About 25 minutes away.

4. Before February 27, 2012, most people had no idea where Chardon was or that it even existed. After said day, I bet most people in the United States now know we exist. All because of a horrible, tragic, painful, unnecessary shooting at my High School. I cannot wait until we become a no-name town again... if that happens.

5. Chardon sports teams coined the phrase "one heartbeat".

6. Chardon has freezing cold winters, and blazing hot summers.

7. Chardon has four seasons. Winter, Almost Winter, Still Winter, and Construction. There's not much of a spring or fall in there. It's either freezing or hot.

8. Chardon has a square, in the heart of the town, that burned down in 1868. It has since been rebuilt, and is the most known place in Chardon. It seems like every road leading in/out of the town is connected to it.

9. Chardon is home of the Hilltoppers.

10. Chardon is located about an hour east of Cleveland, and south of Lake Erie.

11. Chardon is known for maple syrup. Every year we even have our annual Maple Festival. Our syrup is delicious, and the best I've ever had.

12. Chardon is becoming a more popular place to live, growing slightly each year.

13. Within driving distance of Chardon is a few great amusement parks. Kings Island (my favorite), and Cedar Point. Two fairly inexpensive vacation destinations.

It's Tribe Time!

I went to the Indians game last night!! It was soooo much fun, and the CLE Indians even pulled out a victory. Way to go boys!

My Dad got me 4 tickets courtesy of his work, I brought along three of my friends -Allison, Isaiah, and Kyle. The seats were great too -two rows behind the Indians dugout.

Go Indians!

And, the tickets were "loaded" meaning we each had a free $5 for food/drink. Pretty awesome!

We also made it on the jumbotron, and almost scored a foul ball. It was a great game. The only downside, if there was one, was the fact that it was about 90 degrees outside.. 20 degrees too hot.. even at 9pm. But even then, the game was fun enough that I didn't even care about the heat. Thanks for the tickets Dad!

Me Being Me

I saw this idea on a few other blogs, so to give y'all a better idea of who I am, I figured why not do it myself?

If you really knew me, you'd know that...

I love sports.. all kinds.. playing, watching, all of it.

I love hot sauce and spicy foods. I put either cayenne pepper or some kinda hot sauce on everything.

I love country music. The stories the songs tell can always relate to my life.

I'm very patriotic. I love America, and everything about it.

I'm not a picky eater, I'm a weird eater. I dont like most foods people love but love most foods people tend to not like. (spaghetti sauce, cinnamon, any kinda berry, sausage, etc -I hate ;; seafood/sushi, venison -I love).

I enjoy scrapbooking, and using creativity.

I rarely feel embarrassed and/or nervous. It just doesnt happen.

I'm very passionate. I dont do anything without doing it full force.

I rarely swear.

I correct spelling and grammar mistakes in my mind when I see them, but don't care if I don't use perfect grammar.

I love the smell of peanut butter. It's my favorite smell.

I hate beer. I drink vodka, White Zin wine, or Mike's Hard//Smirnoff.

If I don't know where my phone is I have a mini panic attack. I'm attached to my phone in an unhealthy way.

I speak oddly. I say "pellow" instead of pillow. I say "mine as well" instead of might as well. I say "ruff" instead of roof.

I laugh more than I breathe. I'm always smiling, and happy.

I rarely get scared, or feel scared.

The worst thing you could do to me is disrespect me or someone close to me.

I love Nickelodeon, and the Disney channel. I love Disney movies. I love anything from the 90's.

My heart is in my hometown of Chardon, Ohio. I will always love Chardon no matter what. I wouldn't want to have grown up anywhere else.

All I need is a t-shirt and shorts/jeans, and I'm good to go.

I'm very stubborn.

I love my family, friends, and God more than anything else.

There's not much that I enjoy more than a good bonfire, or a Tribe game.

I throw random movie quotes in daily conversations, followed by "name that movie."

Not only am I very competitive, but my family is as well. We make everything a competition.. and I really mean, everything.

If I'm comfortable around you, I'm loud/obnoxious/weird. If I'm not comfortable around you, I'm quiet.

When I order a sub from Subway, or wherever, I always get them not toasted with no cheese. I just prefer to not have cheese on my sandwiches/burgers.

Go Captains!

On Monday my family attended a Lake County Captains game. Our Minor League baseball team, here in North East Ohio. My Aunt/Uncle and cousin Curtis joined us, along with my other cousins Mo/James and their little kids Tallon/Corbin. It was Tallon and Corbin's first Captains game.

the stadium
Tallon and Corbin with Skipper
Brian with Skipper
Corbin after he got to run across the field with other children. He was so happy!

My cousin Curtis and brother Brian got selected to do a trivia game!

The 2011 volleyball season was my first year coaching the Chardon Middle School 8th graders, and we went undefeated 13-0, then went on to win the Lake-Geauga Conference Tournament improving our record to a perfect 16-0. With that we got inducted into the Captain's Wall of Champions. That's me with our plaque on the Wall of Champions... pretty neat!

Anyways, that was our night out at the Captain's game. It was also Buck Night -we got a dollar off our tickets, along with dollar hot dogs, popcorn, fries, pop, and 10oz drafts. It was such a fun game, I can't wait to go again! Go Captains!

Bridal Shower!

On July 1st I hosted//attended my very first Bridal Shower, for none other than Melissa -my almost sister-in-law. Here's how it went...

The room. We had it at a restaurant//banquet place in Willoughby, Ohio called Dino's.

Pink Lemonade and Iced Tea, beverage table.

Melissa's seat, at the head table. Along side her Bridal Party.

Melissa's very own Bridal Shower mug.

 The centerpieces. We did all different colors, blue/pink/yellow/purple/green. The board thing is a magnetic bulletin board, equipped with a magnetic flower. Two wine glasses, different sizes, turned upside down and holders for the candles, with yellow/white flowers underneath.

We organized three games to be played: How Well Do you Know the Bride and Groom, He Said She Said, and What's in your Purse. All three were big hits, and super easy to make. Winners of the games got to take home the centerpieces, and of course, Melissa got one too. We also passed out post-it notes and had everyone write down a 'date night' idea. With the invites we also sent out recipe cards so the guests could share their favorite family recipe with Randy and Melissa. I of course gave Melis my pudding shot recipe. If you've never made or tried pudding shots you have to! They're waayyy better than jello shots. Next time I make them I'll share my recipe.

The party favor table.

Our favors.. wine bottles with personal labels that say, "Thank You! Randy & Melissa 9-15-12" and homemade flower wine stoppers. Everyone loved these!

For lunch Dino's served: Chicken Marsala and Stuffed Cabbage, along with red skin roasted potatoes, rigatoni pasta, and roasted eggplant. It was all delish, well what I ate at least.. I dont like rigatoni or eggplant.

and cupcakes for dessert!

Everyone had a great time, and everything went smoothly. I was really proud of how everything turned out considering I had never even attended a bridal shower before, let alone hosted one. Randy and Melissa got a bunch of great gifts, too!

Weekend Update - TK'12

Weekend update has to be my favorite link-up ever. Probably because I always have good weekends, filled with activities -especially in the summer. Anyways, here's another weekend update!

Thursday::
 This was my Thursday night in a nutshell.

Friday::
I attended the Toby Keith // Brantley Gilbert concert at Blossom Music Center. It was a BLAST. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.. definitely in my top five. We, and by we, I mean:: Malone, Erin, Diana, MOleary, Brian, Randy, Zach, Kyle, Jimmy, TJ, Zak, Derek, Tori, Brad, Brittany.. etc etc, we had a fairly large tailgating group. We played corn hole and kan-jam, listened to music, grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, and drank some beer and/or vodka and/or JackD. I took 90 pictures. NINETY. I'd love to share them all, but thats A LOT of pictures, so if you really wanna check 'em all out just hop over to my Facebook page. Otherwise here's a few of the good//funny ones::

tailgating.
Brantley Gilbert
Toby Keith
Toby had the best encore I've ever seen in my life. He brought two American Soldiers up on stage, they were decked out in their military gear (the three pictures in the middle of the Toby Keith collage), and Toby sang "American Soldier" and "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" it was unbelievable. If you haven't heard these songs you must listen to them. That was my Friday, the Toby Keith concert, all day long.

Saturday::
I slept in, as much as I could, as did everyone else who attended the concert. In the afternoon we played corn hole and grilled up some more hot dogs. Then I had to work 3-8. After work I went over my Uncle Mike's house for my little cousins birthday party -Ben and Hayley. We played more corn hole, relaxed by the fire, danced the night away, ate some s'mores, and drank some beer and/or wine. I love my family, and our family get-togethers. When I left my Uncles, I went over Randy/Melissa's house for some girl-talk action with Melissa. We stayed up pretty late chatting away with a glass of wine. It was a good time, as always. Melissa always gives great advice. My brother, Randy, caught us sleeping when he woke up, and captured the moment::

Sunday::
Slept in again, after another late night. And went to another cousins birthday party. It was only a 2-3 hour party at a park pavilion. So it wasn't too hard to stay awake // act functional. Plus the food was delish -at least the pasta salad was. yummm! After that I just relaxed the rest of the day.

and the ESPY goes to...

I've been super busy running around today doing laundry, and running errands, and a whole bunch of stuff. So, this is going to be short and sweet.

Anyone watch the ESPY'S? I'm soo mad LeBron James and the Miami Heat won best team, agghhh! I mean, I guess they are a good team but still, I hate LeBron. However, did you catch that when LeBron was accepting his award and they had to connect him via Skype (or whatever they used) because he wasn't even there. Which normally, I understand, people are busy. You can't make it to everything. BUT, he was a 45min flight away. 45 minutes! You can't fly 45 minutes for the ESPYS? Agh. He annoys me.
Then, did you see Brittney Griner?? Let me start off by saying what an amazing basketball player she is, but holly hell she's tall. I wikipedia-ed her and she's 6'8", and wears mens size 17 shoe. Does anyone else find this soo weird/odd/manly/ridiculous?
I'd also like to say I have the utmost respect for Coach Pat Summitt. She's an amazing woman and coach. I'm so pleased that they honored her with the Arthur Ashe award. She's phenomenal.

Anyways, I will not be posting tomorrow, since I'll be gone the whole day tailgating and attending the Toby Keith // Brantley Gilbert concert! yaayayay!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! :)

I'm loving..

Happy Wednesday!

Anyone catch the MLB All-Star game last night? My AL boys got slaughtered. Well, I guess only two Cleveland Indians made the team anyways. There's always next year, right?

Anyways, what I'm loving Wednesday..

I'M LOVING...

...that I have the BEST dad ever! He always gets me Tribe memorabilia. Officially added a Grady Sizemore autographed baseball, a Sandy Alomar Jr bobble head, an Asdrubal Cabrera bobble head, a Carlos Santana jersey, and a Justin Masterson jersey!
Go Indians!

 ...that the Toby Keith concert is on Friday!! yahoo! This will be my second time seeing Toby in concert, and he's with Brantley Gilbert -which just adds to the awesomeness.

...that I'm back at work, making moneyyy!

...my friends and family, as always.

...that I got some new followers recently! Check 'em out!

...these hilarious e-cards:

...this:

...the Hunger Games trilogy. I just finished reading Catching Fire. And, it was awesome! I didn't have high hopes for the series, but thought the Hunger Games was great, and really enjoyed the second one as well. Now I just have to read Mockingjay.

...my life right now!

...that Big Brother starts tomorrow!

Weekend Update - Lane Party 2012

So as usual I had a busy weekend.. but unlike usual it didn't start on Thursday, it started Friday like everyone else.

Friday::
 I went to my friend Erin's house and we made upwards of 100 jello shots, along with some brownie/cookie things from Nestle.
Jello Shots//Cookie-Brownie
by the way, it was ridiculously hot outside.
 After that we went to Malone's house and chilled for a bit, before they went to see Ted. Erin and myself went and played sand volleyball. It was so hot outside though that no one really tried.. which kinda made it fun -especially for me, I'm so used to running around the whole time yelling things out like it's a real game.

Tweets::
  • @clane10: I'm such a good baker.. and by baker I mean batter-eater. ‪#LaneParty2012
  • @clane10: making jello shots with @italia2012 and by making jello shots I really mean she's making them and I'm eating chocolate chips ‪#LifeIsGood

Saturday::
I went back to work! Good ole Beans Coffee Shop. It was my first day working in about 2 months, cause of my jaw surgery -by the way it's already been 8 weeks post-op! Saturday evening we had a bonfire//fireworks at my house. Brian lit off $1,900 worth of fireworks, it was a good show, as always. This party was known as the Lane Party 2012 since basically every year we have a larger party equipped with fireworks. Myself and my friend Diana stayed up until 6:30am. Everyone else varied between 2am and 5am. Anyways, here's some of the photos.. please ignore the drunkness.

My Friends.

Sunday::
Relaxed and recovered most the day, and went to dinner at Red Lobster with the fam. My mom and I both got the 4-course dinner, it was only $14! How could I pass up that deal? My courses consisted of: New England Clam Chowder, Caeser Salad, Garlic Shrimp and Scallop Pasta, and finally, a brownie a la mode. It was all delish, but soo much food -I took most of the pasta home, and took the dessert to-go.

Anyways, that was my weekend.. how was yours??

Five For Fri.

It's Friday!! yahoo!

I'm just going to jump right into the high five for Friday...

ONE::
I'm playing sand volleyball tonight with a bunch of friends. I CANNOT WAIT. I love volleyball.

TWO::
I just made a Kip Moore station on Pandora. Kip is a new comer to the country scene, and if you haven't listened to any of his songs before I highly recommend them...

Something About A Truck - Kip Moore

Hey Pretty Girl - Kip Moore

Those are my two favorites, but there's others you should check out, too! Just youtube him. Or Google.

THREE::
Bonfire and Fireworks tomorrow night, at my house. I'm sooo pumped! Bonfires at my house are always the best ever. Good friends, family, food, corn hole, kan-jam, frisbeer, and fireworks. yes yes yes!

FOUR::
I start work again tomorrow! Back to Beans Coffee Shop for me. I know, I know, who gets excited about working? Well, when you've been off work for almost 2 months, and you actually enjoy working where you work, you'd want to go back too. And, I get to work with one of my closest friends, so that makes it even better.

FIVE::
Last weekend was one of the best weekends this summer. Playing corn hole, drinking wine, surrounded by friends.. what could be better?! Read about the night, here. Then, there was Melissa's Bridal Shower -don't think I forgot, I'm going to post about it. I just need to upload the pictures first.

I hope everyone has an amazing 4th of July weekend! God Bless our Troops, and God Bless America!

It's Okay.

Hope everyone had an amazing Independence Day! :)

And although it feels like Monday again, it's actually Thursday.. which means, tonight it's back to the Hambden Country Inn (the little bar by my house.. by the way, I don't drink alcohol every time I go there. I'm not an alcoholic.) And it also means tomorrow is Friday -which means sand volleyball for me. yayayay!

Saturday will be my first day back at Beans Coffee Shop. I'm excited because it's Allison and I working so I know it'll be a good time, but I'm also kinda nervous. I haven't worked in about 2 months -what if I don't remember everything? I used to be really good, and know everything there was to know. But now I'm sure a few things are different, or newly added, and then there's the register that has soo many buttons that I used to know, and hopefully still do. I guess we'll find out.

Anyways,

 ITS OKAY THAT...

...I start work again on Saturday.

...I'm sore from working out.

...Chardon got rain on the two days planned for fireworks and football when we've been in a drought for the past two months.

...I still can't bite into foods because I can't open my mouth wide enough yet.

...my family has $1,900 worth of fireworks in our garage for Saturday night.

...I cannot wait for tonight//tomorrow night//Saturday night.

...during the summer I'm busy EVERY weekend.

...there's only 26 more days until I'll be in flight to Las Vegas, Nevada.

...there's only 37 more days until Melissa's bachelorette party in Niagara Falls, Canada.

...I only have 32 more days until my life will be consumed with coaching volleyball, again.

...I can't wait to coach again this season.

Happy Thursday!

My Life...

First, I saw Magic Mike last night. I went for Channing Tatum, but left thinking it was a pretty good movie. I mean the attractive men definitely helped but overall it was decent. The main girl though, Channing's love interest, kinda did a bad job acting wise. At least I thought so. And Matthew  McConaughey was just weird -sorry, not a fan of his. He's old, and I don't like his hair, and don't find him attractive at all. Anyways, I went with my friend Erin, and the theater was PACKED.. there was even some guys -weird. I mean, whatever floats your boat I guess, but still weird.

yepp, only $5 on Monday's!

Second, I just finished reading A Stranger is Watching by Mary Higgins Clark. It was okay I guess. It started off a little slow for me, but the last few chapters were really good. Well, the last half of the book was good. This is the description on goodreads::
Ronald Thompson knows he never killed Nina Peterson... yet in two days the state of Connecticut will take his life, having found him guilty via due process of law. But Thompson's death will not stop the pain and anger of Nina's husband, Steve. Thompson's death will not still the fears of Nna's six-year-old son, Neil, witness to his mother's brutal slaying. Not even the love and friendship of Sharon Martin, a journalist who is slowly becoming a part of their world, will ever erase their bitter memories. Only time, perhaps, will heal their wounds. But in the shadows a stranger waits, a cunning psychopath who has killed before, who has unfinished business at the Peterson home...

After finishing that book I started reading Catching Fire, the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy. Let's hope it's as good as the first.

Thirdly, I tried out a P90X workout today. I did the CardioX and AbRipperX DVD's. It was a pretty good workout. The cardio one started out slow with yoga moves, but the last 20minutes or so it really got intense. Then I decided to do the Abs one afterwards just to kick it up a notch. I definitely felt that one. Anyways, if you're looking for a good workout I recommend CardioX. The instructor guy will make you laugh, too. He's so intense/funny/odd. I was quite amused which took my mind off the actual workout.

50 Q's that will Free Your Mind, 5.

This is my last post of the 50 Questions that Will Free Your Mind! yahoo! I didn't find these to be all that challenging though. Well, that completes #41 on my 101 list.

41. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?
      The people closest to me. I'd spend time with my mom, dad, brothers, Melissa, Mo/James/Tallon/Corbin, Malone/Olivia/Carrie, Erin/Ashley, Gram, Allison/Klein Family. Probably end up seeing Brian and Randy's friends too, since most of them are like brothers to me.

42. Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous?
        Hell no. 10 years is a lot of time, I'm not giving that up.

43. What is the difference between being alive and truly living?
       Being alive means you're just breathing.. you're alive on the planet. But, truly living means living life to its fullest. Having fun, no regrets, making memories, experiencing everything life has to offer.

44. When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right?
        When it's the right thing to do, do it. Who cares about risk/rewards.. I know it's hard, and I'm not saying that I don't think about myself either, but sometimes you just gotta forget about yourself.

45. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?
      We strive for perfection. Without even trying we still have a desire to be perfect.

46. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
       I honestly don't think I'd do anything different. I don't really care now if people judge me or not. If they judge me without even knowing me then that's their problem, not mine.

47. When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing?
      Right now, after I finished reading the question. But other than that, definitely when I was recovering from the jaw surgery. A few times I woke up gasping for breath because I only had a tiny opening to actually get air in and out.

48. What do you love?  Have any of your recent actions openly expressed this love?
      I love my family, and my friends. I love Indians baseball. I love sports. I love coaching. I love desserts. I love the fall. I love bonfires. I love life. I love a lot of things. I'm sure some of my actions recently expressed my love for a few of these, probably not all of them though.

49. In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday?  What about the day before that?  Or the day before that?
      If I read this blog yes, but on my own remembering probably, most definitely, not.

50. Decisions are being made right now.  The question is:  Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you?
      Hmm.. that could go both ways. I'm kinda in a pickle (as The Sandlot would call it) which I'm definitely letting others make those decisions for me. But, most of my life I feel like I make decisions for myself.

Weekend Update - Grad Party

Every time I write "weekend update" I think about Saturday Night Live. And Jimmy Fallon -he's hilarious by the way. So is Tina Fey and Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler. Just saying.

Thursday::
Yet again my weekend started on Thursday. And it was a damn good one at that. It started out calm, went to Wal Mart to pick up the last few things for Melissa's wedding shower. Then watched my brothers and their buddies work out (they do this every Thursday at my house.. it's an intense tire flipping, rope swinging, parachute running work out.) After that I went to the little bar by my house with the guys, and my friends Erin and Diana. From there we went and got some refreshing ice cream from a local join called King Kone. Then played some sand volleyball. yessss. in case you haven't realized I love playing volleyball, I love coaching volleyball, I love watching volleyball, I love volleyball. So that really topped off the night. When volleyball ended I went back to the little bar and hung with the guys some more. It was a great night overall.

Friday::
The only thing I really did was go to my 7 week post-op appointment. Which took FOREVER. I seriously hate the Cleveland Clinic. For being one of the top ranked hospitals in the word/nation they suck. Always rescheduling my appointments, and taking forever when they actually keep them. agh. Don't get me wrong my surgeon did an amazing job and I'm grateful for that. But driving all the way downtown to just sit in the waiting room forever, and talk to the Doc for 15 minutes really pisses me off. But, he did give me the go ahead to eat soft foods again -shhh! don't tell him I diagnosed myself to be capable of that about 2 weeks ago. Anyways, once I finally got home I just watched some TV -yes, of course I watched Ghost Adventures. It's Friday. And you would not even believe what they did on this episode.. they had some guy build a pod thing that could create enough energy for a spirit to become a full body apparition and communicate with them. Needless to say they never caught anything in the pod. But it created a good laugh for me. Sorry, I just don't believe in that kinda stuff.. sure I think a few of my deceased family members watch over me and protect me, but demons and actual ghosts? Don't believe it for a second.

Saturday::
Went to Brian's friends graduation party. I've known his friend, and the family for years, they're family friends of ours. It was a BLAST. I brought my friend Erin and my new friend Diana. We just hung out with Brian and all his buddies  -Zach, Kyle, and Jimmy.. the usual gang. We stayed up pretty late playing beer pong and corn hole, and of course, I was drinking wine. Well at Brian's grad party last summer we burned our old couch at about 7am -yea, we're late partiers- so because we burned a couch, Brian's friend had to burn one too. There's not a whole lot that's better than sitting by a bonfire. Then in the morning we all went to breakfast at Waffle House -that place is kinda really gross. Well here's the photos::

Sunday::
Consisted of Melissa's Bridal Shower!! (I'll do a separate post all about that later) But I thought it went very successfully, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and I think Melissa had a great time too! Afterwards, it was more corn hole and basketball with Zach, Kyle, my Dad and my neighbor.

Overall, it was a GREAT weekend :)

How was your weekend??
