I have ahhh-mazing news!!
I'M GETTING MY BRACES OFF TOMORROW!!!!
here's a little back story...
I've had braces for 8 years and 8 months. that is not a typo.. 8 years and 8 months. I've had: jaw surgery, a minor facial bone chipped away, an expander, a screw in my lower gum, spacers, bite raisers, way too many molds/impressions taken, braces off for three days then put back on, impacted tooth surgery, chains hooked onto my bicuspids, rubber bands, hmm.. I might be forgetting something but that's all I can think of at the moment.. and then obvious the almost nine years of just regular braces.
with all of those things, the jaw surgery was obviously the worst. but I also HATED the expander.. that thing sucked balls. and the impacted tooth surgery wasn't fun either..
oh and the minor facial bone being chipped away, thats a fun story -no one told me I was going to be put under for it so I ate/drank prior to it. when I arrived they then told me that I was supposed to be put under but since I ate/drank they cant do it now, so I was awake and just numbed for it. it felt SO WEIRD. I don't even know how to explain how it felt.. definitely the weirdest feeling.
so after 8 years and 8 months I'm finally getting them removed. then I'll be fitted or whatever for a retainer. so naturally, my family is throwing a party to celebrate. I wish you all could come, but since most//all of you don't live in Ohio you'll just have to read about it Monday.. unless you're Melissa.. she gets to be here.
eight years and eight months. it's going to feel so weird to not have crap on my teeth. not having to get food unstuck, not having to brush at weird angles, not having to floss like an idiot, not pissing off the dentist cause all the metal in my mouth, not having to smile with my mouth shut.

pain is only a weakness leaving the body
anyone watch the game last night? I really wanted the Fighting Irish to win, since Bama shouldn't have even been in the game my Buckeyes should have been playing but holy cow Bama 'Sanduskyed' Notre Dame.. that was just embarrassing, and pathetic. and what was with Bama's #65? his jersey wasn't covering his belly the whole game.. and he's a lineman.. no one wants to see a lineman's sweaty belly. cover that shizz up dude!
and the Kent State game the other day.. also embarrassing. what the hell was up with their helmets? those were stupid, then the performance Spencer Keith gave on top of that.. disappointing.
and I'm sad to say that because the game was on I did not get to see the Bachelor. but I'm sure I'll get caught up by next Monday.. anyone else watch the Bachelor?
yesterday marked the first day of The Lanes Get Healthy-er. I put the -er there because lets be honest there is nothing "healthy" about my family. besides the fact that we do enjoy playing sports, which keeps us in somewhat of a shape. eating wise is a whole different story.. we love our sweets, and our chicken nuggets, and all of that good stuff. but as I stated every year in January we try to be healthy-er. don't fret, this will only last a few weeks.
however, I'm actually going to try to stick it out. I got a fitbit for Christmas, so with the help of that and this little blog o' mine, maybe I can actually do something. not that I'm super out-of-shape or anything, but 5lbs wouldn't hurt. which is where I'm starting. 5lbs. I think it's stupid when people say their goal is to lose 50+ pounds.. maybe in the long run you will.. but don't push yourself that hard in the beginning otherwise you won't be satisfied with the 10 you already lost. take it step by step. when you reach 10lbs, go for another 10, that way you're reaching the little goals to keep you motivated for that big goal.
so right now I'm looking at 5lbs. which will probably come off if I just got my lazy butt to work out. after that 5, maybe another 5. then I'll be pretty content I think. anything after that is just a bonus. so, here's to getting back in shape.
anyone else trying to get fit?
have any healthy snack ideas?

Weekend Update - Movie Marathon
all I did this weekend was watch movies. and worked some. that's it. here's the movies I watched and a review of them, enjoy.
first up was Gone. I thought it was good, but predictable. I knew who the killer was the second I saw him.. I was hoping that it'd be someone different that I didn't see coming but it was exactly who I thought it was. but I still say it's worth watching. my rating: B.
next I watched Let Me In. this movie was effed.. seriously effed. creepy. weird. effed. therefore it was kinda good. not sure if I'd re-watch it. my rating: C+.
last of the night I watched Crazy Stupid Love. or I should say re-watched. I love this movie.. Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone.. all great actors, all in one movie. if you haven't seen this movie, watch it. my rating: A.
Saturday night, movie night continued with Ted. Ted was funny, but not nearly as hilarious as everyone claimed it was. it didn't live up to it's expectations which was disappointing. still funny though, and still worth watching, just don't be super psyched about it. my rating: B.
I watched Source Code by chance. I actually had four movies in my hand and did eenie-meenie-minie-mo, and Source Code won. I loved this movie. seriously loved it. it kinda messes with your brain a little bit too.. like you know whats going on but you're not sure whats going on. plus Jake Gyllenhaal is in it, and who doesn't want to stare at that for two hours.. am I right or am I right? my rating: A.
Sunday afternoon I watched Edge of Darkness. all the communication was super quiet so I had to crank the volume but the explosions/gun shots and what not were extremely loud. this was irritating. it also wasn't that great. don't waste your time. my rating: D.
17 Again was on tv.. so I re-watched it. I forgot how good it was. I love movies that have hilarious one-liners and this movie definitely has that.. plus Zac Efron is in it.. who doesn't want to stare at that for two hours.. am I right or am I right? my rating: B+.
The Campaign. It was funny, but it was just that.. funny. not hilarious, not spectacular. just funny. I thought it was going to be better than it was. don't get me wrong, I still thought it was good just not as good as I assumed it would be. Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, both hilarious, put them together mega-hilarious, this movie not mega-hilarious. my rating: B-.

"America, Jesus, Freedom"
^ name that movie... The Campaign
1. Have you set any goals/resolutions for 2013?
not exactly, I don't see why it has to be a new year to make changes.. just do it whenever you want.
2. Have you made any travel/vacation plans for 2013?
kinda. my family is talking about going to Kings Island in Cincinnati, OH. it's this awesome amusement park, we used to go every other year but as we got older it didn't fit with our schedules. and there's usually a Niagara Falls trip every year. and Las Vegas 2014 is in the works.
3. What room is never cleaned in your house?
my mom keeps our house pretty neat most the time. but my room and Brian's room is basically always a mess. maybe that will be my goal for 2013, keep my room cleaner.
4. What food must be in your house at all times?
chicken nuggets. and milk. and hot sauce. and ketchup. we usually always have snack foods too.
5. Are you a hugger or more of a hands off person?
that depends. if I don't see you that often and I'm close with you I'll hug you no problem, but if I see you all the time then maybe once in a while I'll give you a hug otherwise we can pass on that.
Dear 2012, thanks for a great run. it 'twas fun. some great memories were made, but it's time to move on. good bye.
Dear 2013, 2012 was good to me so I have some high expectations for you. don't let me down. please. I plan on making many more memories, sharing lots of laughs, and drinking lots of wine with my friends.
Dear Randy & Melissa, thanks for a great NYE. I had a blast playing all those games with everyone. "take your gulps seriously" ;; "citizens arrest you cheater" ;; "oink oink mother fucker"
Dear Al, thanks for the awesome Christmas present. she got me a camo winter hat!
Dear Ashley, I'm so happy you're back in Ohio. Hawaii was just too far away for you to be.
Dear Mom & Dad, thanks for all the amazing Christmas presents, you guys are the best ever.

and much more...
here's to two13 bringing many more memories. two13 is the year of saving up money for LV'14 in 2014 my little brother turns 21 and a whole bunch of people plan on going to Vegas to celebrate. I already have enough money saved to go, but I was saving that for an Ireland trip one day, so I'm hoping to save enough that I don't have to take away funds from my "I-want-to-go-to-Ireland" account.
I welcomed the new year at Randy and Melissa's house. there was just a small bunch of us, and we played games and drinking game all night. and by all night I literally mean all night. we went to bed at like 7am-ish. typ. it was a fun night...
happy 2013! I hope it brings nothing but joy and happiness to you all.
