the 90s were all that

ya know what frustrates me? the fact that dvds weren't invented early enough. or the fact that they were invented at all, although they're much smaller than vhs. that's not the point. I grew up watching some pretty awesome television shows that no longer seem to exist in this world, besides a select few, and watching some pretty awesome disney channel original movies that only exist on vhs if at all, again, besides a select few.

I want to own them, I want to watch them, I want to relive my childhood.. for a little at least.

I can't remember exactly, I think I was on pinterest.. but who knows really.. the point is, I stumbled across the movie Smart House being available on Netflix and almost died of happiness. anyone remember that dcom? so then I thought 'hey, I wonder what other brilliant movies from my childhood are available' so I searched and searched. and although there were some good ones that I def added to my queue (Halloweentown, PUNKS, Heavyweights, The Cheetah Girls, The Even Stevens Movie, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Cadet Kelly, Get A Clue, and even Miracle In Lane 2 and Cow Belles cause I figured why the hell not) I was depressed to see some of the greats not available.

then I thought 'hey maybe I'll check on ebay or amazon' and they did have more than Netflix, but most were vhs. what the hell am I supposed to do with that? I want dvd. I'm not even asking for bluray cause I'm trying to be realistic, although it is 2012.

so, I figured the next best thing would be to vent about it.. anyone else miss these movies and/or remember them? The Paper Brigade, Treehouse Hostage, Brink, Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, Johnny Tsunami, Don't Look Under The Bed, Up Up and Away, Alley Cats Strike, Moms Got a Date With a Vampire, Phantom of the Megaplex (personal fav), The Ultimate Christmas Gift, Motocrossed, Luck of the Irish (another fav), You Wish, Right on Track, Eddies Million Dollar Cook Off... just to name a few.

and no I didn't remember all those off the top of my head, I Googled.

...remember in The Paper Brigade when the bully says "ew I stepped in some Gunther" I still quote that to this day. I think Randy will remember this one.

...or when in Alley Cats Strike at the end when the girl spins the bowling ball around her finger and pushes it down the lane and the ball travels at a negative speed? I always thought that was so ridiculous.

...or in Up Up and Away when the boys friend is trying to be all BA and save the superhero family, so the villains hold up foil like it will hurt him cause thats the superheros weakness, and the kid says 'I eat that stuff for breakfast' and shoves it in his mouth then says 'ow my filling'? that always cracked me up, I'm even laughing about it right now.

and not that any of you would know this, but the little brother in Motocrossed looked exactly like one of my brothers friends growing up. it was weird.

anyone remember anything else from one of these awesome movies? what was your favorite?

and don't even get me started on the amazingness that was SNICK, and Boy Meets World.

time for another rendition of...

Dad: "why do you keep hashtagging things?" (he doesn't understand Twitter)

*phone should be ringing but it's not* Mom: "oh, it's cause I'm downloading Adobe on the computer" ;; Me: "no it's not. sorry mom but it's not 1995, we don't have dial-up anymore."

*phone is actually ringing* Dad: "open it up!!!" (he thought I could make the call come through the tv or something..) ;; Me: "sorry dad, it's only 2012, I can't do that"

Mom: "I used to do synchronized swimming by myself when I was little"

Brian: "sometimes I eat my lunch on the way to work"

"It's how Marines work, we watch each others backs"

Happy Birthday to my Dad!! He turns  the big 4-7 today, but doesn't look a day over 45. justkidding, him and my mom both look pretty young. anyways, happy 47th to the best dad in the world! thanks for everything you do for me, you're the best!! :)

love ya, Dad!!

Safe House

Here's what Netflix says::
When men bent on eliminating dangerous criminal Tobin Frost attack the safe house where the CIA has squirreled him away, young operative Matt Weston must find a way to get Frost out alive and relocate him to another, securer location.

Here's what IMDb says::
A young CIA agent is tasked with looking after a fugitive in a safe house. But when the safe house is attacked, he finds himself on the run with his charge.

Here's what I say::
eh. not that great. I was actually kind of bored with it. It never really captured my full attention. Which is weird because I normally love movies with Denzel Washington. plus, Ryan Reynolds was in it. I somewhat liked the ending, but not enough to make up for the rest of the movie. I give it 2/5.

The Lucky One

Here's what Netflix says::
Marine vet Logan credits his good-luck charm -- a photo of an unknown woman -- for saving his skin in Iraq. Back in the States, he sets out to find the woman behind the smile that steered his fate.

Here's what IMDb says::
A Marine travels to Louisiana after serving three tours in Iraq and searches for the unknown woman he believes was his good luck charm during the war.

Here's what I say::
overall a good movie but be warned, you'll go on a roller coaster of emotions. you'll be sad, happy, mad, glad, everything. for a little bit in the middle of the movie I hated it, mostly cause I feared something bad happening to Zac Efrons pup. but it was all okay. like I said, overall a good movie, and you get to stare at Zac Efron for an hour and 40min. can't complain on that note. I give it 4/5.

the title for the blog post is from this movie. I just loved it. here's the full quote: "It's how Marines work, we watch each others backs. You don't worry about yourself you think about the guy next to you." don't you just love that? talk about respect.

Happy Thursday!! seen any good movies lately??

Awards Night

This is like the 5th time I've been nominated, or awarded, or whatever with this Liebster thing. The first time I played along and did it, the others I didn't, but since this one is coming from Sarah @ A Buckeye in Bagerland I'm going to be a good sport. Not just because she's a fellow Buckeye fan but also because she has one awesome blog that everyone should follow! so after you're done reading another amazing post by me, go check out Sarah's blog.. and while your at it, check out my other followers too cause they're the bomb diggity! yes, I just said bomb diggity.

rules::
wait there's rules for this?? okay, okay...
1:: post 11 random facts about yourself
2:: answer the questions the blogger who nominated set for you, then create 11 new questions for the blogger you pass the award to
3:: choose 11 bloggers (with less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them to this post
4:: go to their page and tell them about the award
5:: no tag backs

eleven facts::
1- I'm so glad I started blogging, cudos to Melissa for that one. I've met some pretty awesome people.
2- I've seen Brad Paisley in concert four times; Mr. McGraw three times; KChes twice; The Band Perry twice; Toby Keith twice; Keith Urban, Gary Allan, Blake Shelton, Jarrod Neimen, Brantley Gilbert, Darius Rucker, Justin Moore, Scotty McCreery, Love&Theft, Jennifer Nettles, Sammy Hagar, Jake Owen, Eric Church, LukeB, and JAldean  all once. I think that's everyone.
3- I once t-boned a car, completely my fault -I somehow did not see them coming. They were illegal immigrants, and later got deported. (Czechoslovakian, cause I know you're all wondering.)
4-  "I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the think I like most, to laugh"

5- I love a good competition.
6- I've been out of the country 16 times, 15 of those times I traveled to Canada.. more specifically, Niagara Falls. The other time was a cruise when I was about 8 or so.
7- I throw movie quotes into everyday convos.
8- The first year I coached volleyball we went undefeated 16-0, the second year we went 9-7, as a coach I'm 25-7, not too shabby.
9- I'm not a big shopper, I don't like spending money on myself, but I lovelovelove Black Friday shopping. I look forward to it every year. and I'm damn good at it (my cousin and I once were in and out of Toys R Us in 7min. with a cart filled to the top with items.)
10- I've had:: double jaw surgery, knee surgery, impacted teeth surgery, a minor facial bone chipped away, 8 sprained ankles, a sprained thumb, a minor cut in my eye, and fractured my growth plate. I'm just a whole mess.
11- When I fractured my growth plate, I was sled ridding. I went down my deck stairs standing on my sled (yes I brought the injury upon myself), and hit the corner of a wooden step so hard right underneath my knee cap that I fractured my growth plate. however, I didn't do anything about it until a year later when the area of skin was still black/blue. I finally went to see a knee specialist a year later whom told me that I had infact fractured my growth plate and it healed back together on its own.

questions Sarah asked::

1:: What's your favorite dessert?
      that's a tough one, I lovelovelove sweets. cookies, cakes, ice cream, cupcakes, you name it. but my biggest weakness is... ice cream. really any kind will do, but moose tracks, or mint chocolate chip are my two favorites.
2:: What did you think about the ending to Lost?
       I didn't watch Lost. I know, I know. sorry.
3:: What's your favorite talk show?
       Ellen Degeneres. I think she's hilarious, and she helps a ton of people which I think is awesome.
4:: Tell me a joke.
       Why are ghosts bad liars? Because... you can see right through them! #classicjoketuesday
5:: What is something you believe in?
        God and the power He has. always do the right thing. guardian angels.
6:: What is something you don't believe in?
       giving up on yourself. and ghosts.
7:: Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts (or some other coffee chain)?
       Beans Coffee Shop! or my keuring... although I'm not a huge coffee drinker.
8:: Do you wear leggings as pants?
       no.
9:: What would you eat as your last meal?
       well, that depends. when I couldn't eat for 6 weeks my last meal was a big juicy hamburger. however, if you're talking last meal ever, of my whole life, it'd be close between Skyline Chili and my classic American hamburger. probs have to go with the Skyline though.
10:: What is something you are obsessed with?
         twitter. facebook. pinterest. making lists. movies/tv/music.
11:: Do you have a loyalty to a certain brand?
         I usually stick with Nike for shoes, a lot of Nike clothes. my Dad works at Nestle so we try to support Nestle products and Stouffers. my Mom basically only buys Tide and Downy for laundry. but I think that's pretty much it.

Weekend Update - TopperPower

Friday::
Did a little shopping, and by a little I really mean a little I went to two stores and spent like 15min in each of them maybe. I'm not much of a shopper, get in get out is my motto. But I did pick up a vest, which I'm kinda excited about cause I didn't own a vest before and I think they're kinda cool. I see more vest buying in my future, and I also got a new purse. Friday night I helped cheer on my alma mater, Chardon High School Hilltoppers, and watched them get a solid 34-15 win over Kenston. They're moving on to the Elite8 now! GO TOPPERS! :)

Saturday::
My Bucks have a bye week today, so they will remain 10-0 for now. I worked 9-6, but we had a few mishaps. I work at a local coffee joint called Beans Coffee Shop. we almost ran out of half&half so I made a run to Aldi's and saved the day. then, we completely ran out of 5 dollar bills, and didn't have too many $1s to work with.. it was such a weird day.. so I ran, literally ran, to one of Chardon's many banks. It was funny cause I was wearing jeans and my Beans polo. I could only imagine what people were thinking "why is this girl running around in jeans and a polo" "look at this weirdo" "what the hell?!" anyways, after work my feet were killing and I was pretty tired, so I didn't want to do anything super adventurous. but my Mom wanted to run a few errands, I figured it'd be a good time to grab my Dad a birthday present since his birthday is on Thursday. we ran to a few stores, and grabbed some dinner. then it was home so I could go to bed. lame.

Sunday::
My Brownies can't lose today considering they have a bye week as well. my Dad and Brian came home today, they were gone all week in southern Ohio hunting. didn't end up getting anything though, but one of their buddies did. Always proud of our Troops, past and present, for everything they do. Everyday I'm blessed just for living in this beautiful country. Thank you to all the Veterans who have given me Freedom, and to all the active soldiers who are keeping our Freedom alive. God bless our Troops, Veterans, and their families.

11/5-11/11 Goals
1:: do better on my goals.
2:: eat healthier.
3:: finish the book I'm currently reading.
4:: catch up on laundry, keep room clean.
5:: drink more water.
 I did really well this week. I only italicized 'eat healthier' because although I did eat healthier I still ate some of that left over Halloween candy. So I'm just giving myself a half for that. I did really good with drinking more water, I'm hoping to continue that in the next week. 4.5/5!

11/12-11/18 Goals
1:: drink more water (carry over).
2:: eat healthier (carry over).
3:: start getting a Black Friday plan together.
4:: organize my movie collection.
5:: put a screen protector on my Mom's iPhone, and other little tasks I've been putting off.
