"the weekend's here"

To be perfectly honest, I didn't have the best week. So my top five are little weak, but they're here none-the-less.

1:: I got new shoes! For the past seven years (and most of my life) I've worn Nike shoes, this time I got Under Armour, and I love them!

2:: My 7th grade volleyball team won their game yesterday! Our record is now 1-1.

3:: I worked a lot this week.... moneyyy!

4:: My cousin Mo, her kids Tallon and Corbin, and her mom came to my game on Tuesday. They made two posters and brought me M&Ms. I love my family.

5:: With the passing of my kitty cat, Boots, everyone has been so nice and caring. I am one blessed individual. Rest In Peace Bootsie <3

1. What do you enjoy doing the most with your spouse?
    I don't have a spouse.

2. How do you eat your taco? From the top or from the side?
    From the side.

3. Have you ever shut off the basement light and ran like a fool because you knew someone was down there and would get you?
    Because I "knew" someone was down there - no. No one was ever in my basement trying to get me. Because I "thought" someone was trying to get me - yes, when I was younger but only a few times. I don't get scared easily.

4. If you could change one thing about you what would it be and why?
    Just one? Braces, off. For the obvious reason of why would anyone want braces. Otherwise, I'd say perfect 20/20 vision -no contacts. But thats it really.

5. What age do you think is appropriate to have the "bird and the bees" talk with your children?
    No idea. Just let it happen when it happens I guess. We're not the kinda family that sits down and discusses things like in movies/TV. And I'm sure it'll be the same for my children one day.

1.  Over this labor day weekend I will be    working, and enjoying the Geauga County Fair. And if Isaac allows I'll be sitting poolside with a cold drink in my hand.
2.  With the political debates going on right now, my thoughts are  can it be November yet? I'm sick and tired of the ads.
3.  Today    I'm relaxing until work tonight.
4. The best thing I've cooked recently was    I don't cook, my mommmy does.
5. The last thing I bought was  a dress, shockingly enough, for my cousins wedding.

6. The best movie I saw this summer was  this summer, I guess I'd say... Hunger Games or 21 Jump Street, both were great. -I don't tend to go to the theater to see movies, too expensive.
7.  The best book I read this summer was   That Boy by Jillian Dodd. (see book club Friday, below)

For this Book Club Friday I'm talking about That Boy, by Jillian Dodd.
Here's what Good Reads says::
You know, being friends with two cute boys does have its benefits.
There's Danny. Danny is a golden boy in every way. He has dreamy blue eyes and blonde hair that always looks perfect, even when it’s windblown or been stuck under a football helmet. He’s the boy every girl crushes on. The boy I get into trouble with, the boy I fight with, the hot quarterback no girl can resist, not even me. Being with Danny is like being on an adventure. He has a bright, contagious smile and abs to die for. He’s pretty much irresistible.
Equally crush worthy is Phillip. Adorable, sweet Phillip, who I have known since birth.  Phillip has dark hair, a perfect smile, brown eyes, and the sexiest voice I have ever heard. He’s the boy I talk to every night before I go to sleep. The boy who rescues me, the boy who can read my mind, the boy who is always there for me, the boy who tries to keep me out of trouble, the boy who irritatingly keeps getting hotter, and whose strong arms always seem to find their way around me.  And when he gives me that grin, I can never say no.
One boy will give me my very first kiss. One boy will teach me to make out. One boy will take me to prom. And finally, one boy will ask me to marry him. They will both be my best friends. But only one of them will be the boy I fall in love with. Only one of them is That Boy.

Here's what I say::
It's a quick and easy read, but it's good! It will suck you in, and best of all? It's a series! Followed by That Wedding, and soon-to-be-published That Baby. One of my favorite books, ever. I'm not sure if it is because I can kinda relate in a weird way, or because it's just that good. I love how it was written, like it was Jayden's diary or something. Brilliant! I highly recommend it.

Happy Friday!

Vent Sesh.

Today I'm venting.

I'm stressed, and frustrated, and today sucked.

First, I had to work. Then we had our first volleyball game, which we lost. Then I come home to see my mom made spaghetti (I hate spaghetti), and then my dad tells me that tomorrow a lady is coming to put my cat down -she's 18 and starting to go downhill. I've had her since I was four. I don't remember life without her around. So yea, I had a crap day. No, I had a shit day. SHIT.

So, tomorrow, by the time I get home from practice my cat that I've had my entire life will be dead. aaagggggghhhhh hfbsdhfsdjbfjksdfsdhfisfkdssdb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's how I feel right now.

agh.

Weekend Update - Heart Walk

Before I jump into my weekend update I just want to say, a few posts back I answered a question that stated "what famous person would you most like to meet" well, I want to change my answer. Now there's a bunch of people I'd love to meet like: Brad Paisley, KChes, Mr McGraw, the Duck Dynasty crew, Zak Bagans, Sanzenbacher, Omar Vizquel, Hannahan, Laurinaitis, Zac Efron, Ryan Reynolds, etc etc etc. but I'd really love to hang out with Rob Dyrdek for a day. He's hilarious and crazy AND he's from Ohio. Every time I watch Fantasy Factory or Ridiculousness I wish I was there. As a camera crew member or a friend of Robs or something.

Anyways...

Friday::
 I picked up my bridesmaid dress from being altered! Only three... THREE... more weeks until my older brother gets married! After picking up my dress I made a quick stop at Kohls, before going to volleyball practice. We had team pictures, which took forever, so we just let the girls make posters to hang in the gym. It was an easy Friday back-to-school practice for them. From practice I went to Panini's for dinner. I switched things up -normally I get the Panini Wrap (its soooo good!) but this time I went with the Philly Wrap. It was good, but not as good as the Panini Wrap, I think I'll stick with my usual from now on. Once my stomach was full I went home and watched TV, and yes I watched Ghost Adventures. I mean, it was Friday. In this particular episode Zak Bagans (who makes the show with his out-of-control-ness) and his crew went to the Mansfield Reformatory -right here in Ohio, where parts of Shawshank Redemption was filmed. Anyways, they do these overnight ghost tour things and one day I want to do it. One day I will do it.

Saturday::
Woke up bright and early to attend a Heart Walk in Cleveland with Randy and Melissa. Randy's company, Philips, made a team so I joined too. We walked three miles, which wasn't hard to do, but it was quite hot outside. After that we decided to grab some lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, Hooley House. They have delicious burgers, and fries, and wings, and everything! I got the BBQ Chicken Wrap, it was delish! From there I came home and get ready for work. Worked 3 - 8pm at Beans Coffee Shop. Finally ending the day by going to my Uncles to dog/house sit. I watched some Food Network, and the Hunger Games -and actually enjoyed it (I feel that a lot of people were bashing it) however, I did like the book better, but the movies was good too. I rate it a solid B.

Sunday::
Just relaxed all day, as usual.

Sunday Social

1. What is the first website you log on to each day?
    Facebook.

2. Give us some funny websites you visit that we need to know about.
    textsfromlastnight.com is hilarious.

3. Pinterest or Facebook? Why?
     I definitely use Facebook more, so I'll say that. But Pinterest does a better job at curing my boredness.

4. Twitter or Instagram? Why?
     Twitter. I don't have instagram, I don't have an iPhone nor any intention on getting one. I love my Blackberry, and I think I'll stick with it.

5. Favorite youtube video...post it!
      no idea. I really only use youtube to look up music videos, so it'd be a country music video.
6. Biggest online pet peeve?
     When people complain about other people. If you don't want to read their posts then don't. It's not that hard. If you don't like what I write, or how I write it, then go somewhere else, don't sit there and complain about it.

5. Here's to a relaxing night in tonight, watching Ghost Adventures. And doing a heart walk in the morning.

Dear Volleyball Girls, I can already tell this is going to be a great season. And by great I mean fun, and probably also successful. Thanks for being the good group that you are, and please stay that way.

Dear Coach Isham, Thanks for all you do. Having a coach for the 8th graders that I get along with and have fun with makes my life so much easier. Thanks for the dinners at Panini's and for always knowing what to do when something crazy happens.

Dear Ghost Adventures, Thank you for always entertaining me on Friday nights.

Dear Erin, Thank you for coming with me to do a ghost hunting class. I cannot wait! (for the record I don't actually believe in ghosts.)

Dear Flies, Go away! Stop coming into my house, we don't want you here.

Dear Sleep, Sorry I've neglected you, I promise to sleep more in the coming week.

1.  My favorite thing to do on Friday is    chill by a bonfire (in the summer/fall), watch Ghost Adventures, or watch a good move with some hot chocolate (in the winter).
2.   This Friday I am   having dinner at Panini's, then I have a date with my couch to watch Ghost Adventures and/or a movie, and then going to bed early. I'm beat.
3.  The best thing about a weekend is   sleeping in. late nights. bonfires, parties, drinking. etc.

4. Now that summer is almost over, I'm feeling     exhausted, yet, energized. If that makes any sense.

5. The best thing I did this summer was  go to Las Vegas, and Niagara Falls, and country concerts. I had a great summer.

6. The thing I'm looking forward to about fall is  football. bonfires. hoodies. Halloween. jeans. Northface jackets.

7.  If I had to be stuck in one season for the rest of my life, I would choose  Fall, definitely. Not too hot, not too cold. It's perfect, and the leaves changing colors is so pretty.

Weekend Update - Jessie's Wedding!

This week was busy busy busy for me. Between work and coaching and running various errands I had no time to breathe.. I haven't even fully unpacked from Vegas -thats how little time I had to do other things.

Friday::
Coached 8-10am, then worked 11-4. Afterwards I had plans with my couch and TV. I did next to nothing the rest of the night, besides watch Ghost Adventures. That is until I got a text from my good friend Erin asking me to join her and Janel for drinks. So fully exhausted still I went out because... yolo. Yes, I just said yolo. It was a fun time, as always. We went to a little bar, and then to a house party.

Saturday::
Back to work 8am - 3pm. Then my family attended my 2nd cousins wedding reception. Let's just say that was a great time. All the Lanes together celebrating, what could be better? Wonderful reception, wonderful people.

Tweets of the night:
     - "psyching kids out" since 2012. @wopski43
     - drinking Jizz in a glass... whaaattt?! #LaneWedding
     - "someone's bringing a cooler up, that must be a Lane" #LaneWedding

Friday's Letters

Dear Friday, Thank you for being here now. But why did it take you so long? Next time please go faster. I'd greatly appreciate it.

Dear Chardon 7th Grade Volleyball Girls, Congrats on making the team! Let's make this season a memorable one, fun and successful! Go Toppers!

Dear Summer, Can you please just last a little bit longer? Just a little?

Dear Beans Customers, Stop being so annoying. When I have to work, and coach, and do 85 other things that day I don't want to deal with you or your nonsense.

Dear Followers, Thanks for following! It's weird to think people are actually semi-interested in my below average, yet hectic, life.

Dear Randy and Melissa, It's almost the big day!!!! yahoo!

Dear Bank Account, Can't you just expand yourself without me having to work? It's 2012, there's got to be way.. is there an App for that?

Dear Chardon Volleyball Alumni, It was great seeing those of you who came the other day, and playing volleyball.

Dear Wrist, Please stop killing me every time I scoop ice cream. It makes it that much harder for me to get the stupid ice cream out of the container when I can't even move my hand. And, Arthritis, I'm only 22 years old -go find someone else to infest first, you can come back when I'm 80 if you really have to, but 22? Give me a break!

LA$ VEGA$

That's right the Lane family went to Las Vegas, and you better believe we left our mark.

Go big or go home.

Vegas was so much fun, unbelievable really. The perfect place for a getaway before coaching/school/work etc starts up again. And, I was able to knock off a few things on my 101 list!

Day One::
We flew out of CLE at about 1pm, before take off we enjoyed lunch at Panini's and a few beverages. I tried the Lake Erie Sunrise -which was delish! We landed in Vegas around 2pm -don't forget there's a time change! We checked into our hotels (that's plural, because Mrs. Fellows and Scott came with us -family friends of ours.. actually I've been friends with Scott since I was 3 years old!) Anyways, we stayed at the Mirage, while Scott and his mom stayed at Caesar's Palace. I personally love the Mirage. Its not super big, like MGM, but it's still really nice. After check-in we ate at Margaritaville, and gambled the rest of the night.

Day Two::
Started the day off by relaxing at the pool, after eating the Mirage's breakfast buffet. YUM! We walked around the strip for a while checking out other hotels -Caesar's, and Bellagio. Lunch was at Toby Keith's I Love this Bar and Grill, where I had the BEST shrimp po-boy, and a Southern Kiss. That evening we saw Terry Fator perform. He's a ventriloquist, and boy is he good! He sang a bunch of songs using the puppets, it was ridiculously good, and hilarious too! The night ended with more gambling and drinking.

Day Three::
Relaxed by the pool again in the morning, and for lunch myself, Dad, and Brian went to Hot N Juicy Crawfish. Man vs Food (a TV show on Travel Channel) ate there once, so when we went to Vegas last year we ate there for the first time and man is it delicious! So of course we had to go again. Love me some spicy crawfish. To get there from the strip you have to take a cab, which we did, but to return back we decided the Rio hotel/casino wouldn't be too far of a walk. So we walked. About two miles. In the Vegas heat. Not the best decision, but definitely makes for a good story. By the time we made it to the Rio we were all sweating, Brian looked like he just got out of a pool! Anyways, after that we all went downtown for the evening. I love going downtown, the whole strip is undercover and lit up with a bunch of lights. They even do light shows -it's really cool!

Day Four::
Friday, my oldest brother Randy flew in with 15 or so of his buddies for his bachelor party. They went and did their own thing while myself, Mom, and Mrs. Fellows gambled the night away.. after eating at another buffet of course. By the way, every buffet we ate at was absolutely delicious.

Day Five::
By this time we've switched hotels and are now at the Flamingo. We made the switch because my mom gets comped rooms so instead of paying for two more nights at Mirage we got free nights at Flamingo. Just another day of eating buffets, gambling, and drinking. Myself, Mom, and Mrs. Fellows went downtown again and saw Bret Michaels perform -it was super crowded, but really fun.

Day Six::
Sunday, the last day. More buffets, packing, last minute gambling, and a few more drinks before boarding the plane back to CLE.

The flight landed at about midnight, and we arrived home around 1:30am.
I had the best time, with some really awesome people. Definitely a trip to remember! :)

Beer Olympics

My family hosted the 1st annual Lane-Rice Beer Olympics on July 28th, but with vacation and everything I couldn't blog about it until now.

We had teams of two::
myself & Malone - Team Black Out

Randy & cousin Curtis - The Naturals

Mom & Aunt - Lady Hornets

Dad & Uncle - Team USA

Brian & cousin Josh - Team Illegal

Melissa & sister Shannon - Team Lear Farts

We played single elimination brackets for each event. A total of 6 events in all.

First up was Kan-Jam, which is a frisbee kinda game. After that we played Frisbeer, which is another frisbee game. Both are fun to play, but its hard to do when the wind is intense.. and of course on the one day we have the Beer Olympics it's a damn artic tundra outside. Anyways, after Frisbeer was corn hole -which Team Black Out (my team) went to the finals in, we lost the championship game against my Dad and Uncle -who are two of the best corn hole players I know. Fourth up was Beer Die -which Team Black Out also went to the finals in, we lost the championship to Randy and Curtis. The fifth game was Beer Pong. And finally we played Flip Cup -which Team Black Out won! Overall Brian & Josh won the Beer Olympics, but Team Black Out got an honorable 2nd place!! Not too shabby!

It was a really fun time, and I couldn't have asked for a better partner.

GO TEAM BLACK OUT!
