H54F, sports talk, and backing it up

1:: Kenny Chesney concert last night was AMAZING. Kenny did fantastic, as usual.
2:: day off from work today!
3:: AVars grad party last Saturday was fun, and Marky's is tomorrow. love the Hawthorne Woods gang.
4:: Fathers Day was successful. dad loved his gift card for meat at Sams Club, and we had a delicious lunch.
5:: the Lane Family Golf Outing is Sunday! and the Rascal Flatts concert is next Friday!

they're finding their groove again. we almost swept the Royals, Rangers, and Nationals.. I'll take that! they have the Twins for the next series. Raburn is doing pretty well, I wish he had more playing time.. plus, his walk-up song is always country music. #RollTribe

and now to backthatazzup, I think it's only fitting I give you a KChes song. but instead of one, I'm posting two, my two favorite Kenny songs...

"if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball"

^ name that movie... Dodgeball

first, I just want to say it's been one year today since I got jaw surgery. it's crazy to think that a year ago I was under for 12 hours, in the hospital for three days, and couldn't eat for 6 weeks. I've came so far healing in the past year. no more numbness, no more pain, my braces are off, I'm done with check-ups at the ortho. I'm very happy happy happy!! :)

a quick update on the Tribe... they're doing awesome! they're currently 18-14 and 3rd in the AL Central. my boys just swept the A's, making them on a four game winning streak. Reynolds is on fire, Swishy is right there with him. Raburn is still doing well when he plays. Cabrera got out of the funk he was in earlier and is doing better. they're looking real good offensively right now. I hope it continues once the All-Star break goes.. last year that's when the fell apart. keep on going boys!! windians!!

one:: momma made Skyline Chili for dinner the other night.
two:: this semester is officially overrrr- bring on summatime!

three:: I hit 70 followers, and was inducted into the LEEIB Hall of Fame, yahoo!
four:: for mothers day we're eating at Danny Boy's. loove that place.
five:: I've continued to workout//eat healthier.. and I feel gooood!

The Pact by Jodi Picoult

Goodreads:: For eighteen years the Hartes and the Golds have lived next door to each other, sharing everything from Chinese food to chicken pox to carpool duty-- they've grown so close it seems they have always been a part of each other's lives. Parents and children alike have been best friends, so it's no surprise that in high school Chris and Emily's friendship blossoms into something more. They've been soul mates since they were born. So when midnight calls from the hospital come in, no one is ready for the appalling truth: Emily is dead at seventeen from a gunshot wound to the head. There's a single unspent bullet in the gun that Chris took from his father's cabinet-- a bullet that Chris tells police he intended for himself. But a local detective has doubts about the suicide pact that Chris has described.

thoughts:: I heard many good things about this book. however, I wasn't a huge fan. I may be the only person in the world, but I just didn't think it was great. it was very predictable. the twist at the end, saw that coming from a mile away. and the whole book was just depressing.

currently reading:: Delirium by Lauren Oliver (and I'm loooving it so far)

Happy Friday!! have any big plans for Mother's Day?

"you know who I am"

guess what?! I saw Iron Man 3 last night! that's where the title of this post comes in. it's okay to be jealous. I'd be. I love the Iron Man movies and Robert Downy Jr. unfortunately this one I didn't think was super great, I mean it was good but the first one is still the best. sorry Mr. Stark.

oh, and I'm super excited cause I've worked out 2 days in a row! I'm feeling great, and sore. #allthewaystrong
and because I worked out, I've also got a serious case of sunburn happening. it's bad. #IrishGirlProbz

okay now for my sports weekly update.

the Tribe is not doing too bad right now. they're 12-13 and 4th in the AL Central. in their last three games my Tribe has beaten the Royals 9-0, and the Phillies 14-2 and 6-0. pretty good, I'd say. Raburn is killing it out there- keep it up!! Reynolds is still doing good. we just need to get Swishy back in.. which he should be returning to the line up within the next few days. keep up the bats boys!

for once we didn't do half bad in the draft. they made good defensive decisions. which we'll need cause I'm not so sure about our offense. especially with Dawson and Cribbs gone. but hey, if you can stop a team from scoring it'll be harder for them to win. hopefully everyone works hard and stays healthy through the summer and they're ready to go come fall.

1:: Iron Man 3.
2:: we've had beautiful weather.. which I took advantage of.
instagram:: @casslane10
3:: I survived working during the Maple Festival.
4:: I'm babysitting my cousins Saturday night, we always have fun. plus it's easy money.
5:: it's been two years since we sent Bin Laden to hell. that's reason to celebrate in itself, not to mention May fifth.

Kiss Me by Jillian Dodd

goodreads:: I've always written scripts for my perfect life. But no way could I have ever scripted this. My life is so far from perfect, it’s not even funny. All because of a stalker. I’m at a boarding school where I have to lie about who I am. I can’t see my family. I’m tutoring a Hottie God that tortures me with his smile. The most popular girl already hates me. But there’s this boy. This hot, sweet, sexy boy. So I’m going to stop trying to script my life and just live it. Because who knows how long I have left.

me:: very good. just as good as the first book, Stalk Me. quick easy read. the characters drag you in and you won't want to stop reading. I really enjoyed it.

Flicker by Melanie Hooyenga

goodreads:: Biz is a perfectly normal teenager except for one minor detail: she uses sunlight to jump back to yesterday. She takes advantage of flickering by retaking Trig tests, fixing fights with her boyfriend (or reliving the making up), and repeating pretty much anything that could be done better. Trouble is, flickering makes her head explode from the inside. Or feel like it anyway. No one knows about her freakish ability and she’s content to keep it that way. Guys don’t stick around because she refuses to let them in, but all that changes when Cameron, her best friend, starts looking oh-so-yummy. Suddenly she’s noticing his biceps, his smile, and the cute way his eyes crinkle when he—gah! This is her friend! But the butterflies come to a screeching halt when little girls start disappearing, then take a nosedive when the police link the kidnappings to Cameron’s sister, who vanished years earlier. As the police grasp for clues, Biz photographs a strange man lurking in the shadows and realizes that her flickering can help more than just herself.

me:: I read this book by chance.. and I'm glad I read it. I thought it was great, although somewhat predictable, the ending was awesome. again, another quick easy read. first one in a series.

Happy Friday!!

"and jammed 11 cookies into the vcr"

^ name that movie..... (Elf)

first things first why would someone do first things second but tonight I am baking.... I'll let that sink in..... Christmas cookies. yepp. I bought the mix stuff see how much I know about baking I just have to stir it and spread it and cut it and bake it and frost it and eat it. the last time I attempted to bake something Erin was helping me and I ended up just eating the batter and not really doing anything else. and the time before that I burnt it all. and every time I've ever made muffins at work something goes wrong. so tonight should make for a great story. which I will most definitely share with all y'all.

secondly, I bought a wall plug-in thingy from Bath&BodyWorks and oh my goodness it smells Heavenly where has this been my whole life?! right now I have twisted peppermint in it and I never wanted to breathe more in my life. it's that good.

thirdly, I quoted Elf in my head yesterday. and I'm not ashamed. I forget what happened exactly but my response was "son of a nutcracker" and then I laughed. I also watched the movie for the fourth time in the last five days. and I'm not ashamed of that either. it was on 25 Days of Christmas.. I couldn't help myself.

one:: LaneVisitsOU2012. enough said.
two:: Christmas shopping and decorating and baking
three:: Duck Dynasty Christmas edition.
four:: 25 Days of Christmas.
five:: LaneVisitsOU2012. it gets two, it was that good.

"we're coming in too hot"

^ name that show.... (Prep & Landing) -a cartoon on 25 Days of Christmas.

Popped by Carol Higgins Clark

what Goodreads says::
L.A.-based private detective Regan Reilly heads to Las Vegas to help out her old school chum Danny Madley. Danny is producing a reality TV show featuring three married couples who have all suffered the proverbial "Seven Year Itch," but are now vying for a chance to renew their vows in a wedding-cake-shaped hot air balloon -- and win one million dollars! But Danny has received an anonymous letter warning him to halt production, and "accidents" start happening on the set. It's up to Regan to find out what's lurking behind the scenes....After all, the show must go on!  Popped takes us from the kitschy glamour of the Las Vegas casinos and run-down hotels off the Strip to the world-famous Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta -- a funny, fast-paced romp!

what I say::
a very quick, but good read. I enjoy most of Carol and Mary's books.. and this one was no different. my grandma lent it to me to read, and finally got around to it. the characters were good, the story line was good.. although kinda predictable if you ask me.. but overall good. 3.5/5

one:: my birthday! which was awesome.
two:: the Cavs game, with some of my closest friends
three:: dinner at Danny Boys with the fam
four:: Thanksgiving and Black Friday and countdown to 25 Days of Christmas
five:: going down to OU this weekend for more birthday festivities

3. When it comes to holiday decorating my family goes all out. giant, fresh cut, Christmas tree. lights. decor. stockings. the whole shebang.

5. My favorite holiday tradition is spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my family, and the shennanigans that occur at both festivities.
6. This year my Christmas plans include going to my Grandma's house on Christmas Day. and exchanging presents. and eating spaghetti. and laughing at eachother. and playing jokes on my Uncle.
7. My favorite holiday food is well, if you know me you know I don't like spaghetti sauce. but my grandma lets me go first before she mixes in the pasta with the sauce. so although it's not really real spag I do look forward to it. and I also look forward to the pizza/wings/chicken nuggets we eat on Christmas Eve.

"nobody makes me bleed my own blood, nobody!"

name that movie... (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) -hilarious movie, by the way.

Dear Mom, It's been fun having the house to ourselves this past week, sadly it will be coming to an end this weekend.. lets live up the next few days while we can.

Dear Buckeyes and Browns, This is your bye week. Use it wisely, Bucks you gotta be ready for Wisconsin on the 17th. and Browns you could potentially beat the Cowboys, don't let me down boys.

Dear Uncle Rod, College basketball starts today. Now I know that March is still months away but I suggest you prepare yourself for our NCAA March Madness bracket bet. I'm looking to go 2-0, back to back champs.

Dear Siri, Now that my Mom has the iPhone 5 I'm sorry I keep asking you stupid questions to see what your response is. I promise not to do it that often anymore.

Dear Mo, I'm so excited for Black Friday! We always have a lot of laughs and this year won't be any different. Let's do it up!

For One More Day by Mitch Albom

 Here's what Goodreads says::
For One More Day is the story of a mother and a son, and a relationship that covers a lifetime and beyond. It explores the question: What would you do if you could spend one more day with a lost loved one? As a child, Charley "Chick" Benetto was told by his father, "You can be a mama's boy or a daddy's boy, but you can't be both." So he chooses his father, only to see the man disappear when Charley is on the verge of adolescence. Decades later, Charley is a broken man. His life has been crumbled by alcohol and regret. He loses his job. He leaves his family. He hits bottom after discovering his only daughter has shut him out of her wedding. And he decides to take his own life.

Here's what I say::
Pretty decent book, really quick read. Not a typical book I'd pick up and read, but my Aunt had owned it and when she passed I figured why not read it.. although that was 2.5 years ago, I finally read it. and it wasn't the best book I've read but I'm definitely glad I did. I give it 3.5/5. give it a shot, if ya want.

Brian: "Shoot their achilles and tell them to run a mile"

Gram: "I would have brought Brandy and we would have drank it all"

Gram: "What's the difference, it's 5 o'clock somewhere"

Mom: "How to win a guy in 30 days? What is it?" ;; Me: "It's how to lose a guy in 10 days"

"If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit"

^ name that book.... (That Boy by Jillian Dodd).

Dear 7th grade volleyballers, I truly had a phenom time with you all, and will miss all your craziness in the off-season. Be good in school, do all your homework, and keep working hard! You guys are great, thanks so much for a fantastic year!

Dear AMC Fear Fest, I love you. I love all the horror movies you've been playing. I love that this week is the Halloween series on prime time. I look forward to Fear Fest every Fall. Thanks for never disappointing.

Dear 13 Nights of Halloween, similar to what I said to Fear Fest, thanks for all the awesome movies. I always love 13Nights. Although I could go without the Harry Potter movies, to be honest. Other than that good picks.

Dear blogs I follow, I feel like I really know you guys in real life. Like I've been friends with you for a while now even though I know none of you in real life (minus Melissa). Thanks for being great!

Dear Randy, I hope you had a great birthday! Bahama Breeze was delish as always. Mojito me!

Dear weather, You were so nice yesterday and Wednesday, why must you suck for the rest of October? Especially on Halloween. Let the trick-or-treaters have a fun.

1. Who wakes up in the morning with the kids, you or hubby?
      Well, I don't have kids nor do I have a hubby. I barely wake myself up.

2. Do you watch the World Series even if your team isn't in it?
     Yea, kinda. I'm not going to freak out if I miss a game, but if it's on and nothing else is I'll watch it. Dad and I watched game 1 the other night.. or at least most of it.

3. What is the best compliment you have received?
     All of them are the best! I welcome any and all compliments. I got a bunch at Randy/Melissa's wedding that was nice, and a bunch more for coaching this season.

4. Do/did you dress up to take your kids trick-or-treating?
    No kids here, but I probably wouldn't. If I did I'd probably just be something easy every year. But as a kid I always dressed up, and still do today. I don't go trick-or-treating anymore but I do scare the trick-or-treaters.

5. Do you have a favorite Bible verse? What is it and why?
     Unfortunately I do not have a favorite. Sorry.

1:: The volleyball banquet went really well. I'm sad to say that marks the end of the season, but I had an absolute blast (as I've said 4579843 times before).
2:: Bahama Breeze for dinner last night. and lunch today. YUM! nice pick bro.
3:: Today I'm making pudding/jello shots, I'm not exactly sure if I want to make both or just one, but lets be honest, I'll probs end up making both.
